EverQuest II is enjoyed by players in countries all over the world, and we are also blessed to have a surprising number of international Darq Side members. A few years ago the country-specific game servers were converted to an English code base, but understandably many non-English players still prefer using their own language where possible while gaming.
Recently Darq Side member Marco was looking for a way to translate quest steps in the Journal to his native language. Pulling bits of text out of the journal and feeding them to a translator would be a very messy proposition, but we concluded that leveraging an online translation service would allow players to translate any page, not just quests, from the various URL shortcuts and links within the game.
The premium DarqUI Browser window has been fitted with a new optional control that will do exactly that. Load up any web page from a shortcut or other link and then click the Translate arrow at the top of the window.

You can also select your language in the Window Manager. If you don't see your two-letter country code in the dropdown list you can enter it into the textbox manually. We can easily add more country codes to the dropdown list, so please message me or DM me in Discord if your language needs to be added.
Here's an example of what an in-game browser page looks like when translated to German. Once the initial translation is loaded, any links on the page will load correctly:

A few pages were encountered here and there that didn't want to translate, but we've had great success with a wide variety of websites, links and languages during testing.
There's also a new option in the next version of the URL Helper that will automatically translate web pages out to your external browser in your preferred language:

The modified URL Helper/Notifications app will be published soon, along with a new version of the DarqUI utility that includes some updates for new and upcoming features. If you'd like to try out the notifier early, message me in Discord and I'll be happy to give you a copy.
Side note: I wanted to point out that the in-game browser has proven to be much more stable, at least for me, since the game was converted to 64-bit code a while back. I know there are plenty of players who steadfastly avoid opening it due to painful game crashes in the past, but I suggest giving it a try once again. I think you'll be surprised.
Many thanks to Marco for suggesting the new feature and for testing multiple iterations of the translator code for in-game and external browsers.
