One improvement that members have been asking for since the beginning is larger maps for their higher resolution systems. I've been resistant to spreading the reach of DarqUI into the EQ2MAP realm, but now that we have a large chunk of the UI available in 2K and 4K sizes, it makes sense to see what can be done while keeping a light touch.
Today you have access to four mapping alternatives.
Default maps. If you don't use EQ2MAP, you will still get a decent, low-impact mapping system including the main Map window and mini-map. If you opt to go basic with no mods at all, you'll only have maps for the major game zones, a small set of POIs and landmarks, and only in the default size.
Default maps via DarqUI. This is still the basic mapping system at heart, but with DarqUI you can opt for 2K- or 4K-friendly sizes, and you'll have some extra visibility tools on the main window frame and mini-map.
Official EQ2MAP. This is the full crowdsourced custom mapping add-on with hundreds of zones mapped, plus tons and tons of player-submitted, searchable POIs and quest update locations. The EQ2MAP page in the DarqUI utility offers an alternative portal for installing the complete, official EQ2MAP add-on in the default (Normal) size.
EQ2MAP via DarqUI. Using a combination of the premium DarqUI updater and the EQ2MAP page in the utility, you can have the best of all worlds: the full EQ2MAP package, extra tools on the window frame, and a choice of Normal, Large and X-Large sizes.

Here's how to get your mapping choice installed.
-----
Default maps. Check for DarqUI updates with the premium utility and scroll down to Map in the component list. Right-click and "Use game default." The utility will delete any modded map files, and DarqUI will refrain from downloading anything associated with custom maps.
If you had previously installed EQ2MAP, you can remove it using the Repair link on the EQ2MAP page in the utility. When you log in, you'll be using the unmodded default maps that come with the game.
Default maps via DarqUI. Check for DarqUI updates and scroll down to Map in the component list. Click the gear icon and choose "Using default maps." Choose a larger size from the Sz column if desired. Click the Update files button and you'll be good to go. You can remove EQ2MAP if it was previously installed using the Repair link on the EQ2MAP page in the utility.
Official EQ2MAP. Check for DarqUI updates and scroll down to Map in the component list. Check the "Skip" checkbox. Next switch to the EQ2MAP page and either install or update EQ2MAP using the button at the top of the page.

Trivia: EQ2MAP is actually an acronym that stands for EverQuest II Modular Atlas Project. So... EQ2 M.A.P. Pretty clever!
