Over the past year and a half we've encountered a surprising number of Darq Side members who game on Linux computers. Linux in all its different flavors is an operating system that's not for the faint of heart, but it's been growing rapidly in popularity due in part to significant compatibility improvements with Windows apps and games like EverQuest II.
One of those Linux-savvy Darq Siders is Arderath who recently came up with an ingenious way to bridge an incompatibility in one of our features, namely the URL Helper. Over the past several days I've been working with LadyGrelka whose Linux installation has been uncooperative when trying to transfer URLs from the game out to her default browser.
Coincidentally, Arderath popped into Discord yesterday with a shiny new script that appears to have solved the URL issue for Linux players. I have a creaky old Linux box for rudimentary testing, but I've relied heavily on members like DanielCoffey, Dreameh, LadyGrelka, vins1977 and others to do the hard compatibility testing on their Linux systems.
If you're a Linux gamer and you want to try out the Linux URL Helper or if you're just curious, I recommend you check out three places that Arderath is responsible for:
Thank you Arderath for making the URL Helper feature accessible to more players!
