Blind Hog Finds Two Acorns in One Week

A couple of days ago I posted that borderless fullscreen window mode is now internal to the game, so for many players the controls found in the DarqUI utility and Notifier app would no longer be necessary. Any time we can reduce complexity it's a welcome change, and this is no exception.

Today Darq Side member Freddy alerted me to a related development that I had not noticed. The good folks at Darkpaw Games have apparently been working on some browser-related settings, and the result is another nice opportunity to simplify things.

In one of our in-depth tutorial videos I go into detail about how most fansite URL requests for items, collectibles, quests, etc., are not possible without using the URL Helper because of space characters in the names. Well, at some point in December this became less of a problem. Internal Web requests are still only honored for old-fashioned http:// addresses, but those get converted to more secure https:// requests when they are passed to any modern browser. And just as importantly, the game now packages up those space characters properly!

TLDR: Get the most recent DarqUI updates and you'll find that you now have the option of opening fansites like EQ2U and Wikia without using the URL Helper! Combined with the new fullscreen windowed mode checkbox in Options, that's both components of the URL Helper that can be turned off, and two less things to fiddle with. Given these changes, I can't find a reason for the developers to put a browser back into the game. Can you?

Thank you Freddy for the heads-up, three cheers to Darkpaw Games, and Happy New Year to our valued Darq Side members!
