When we have a new expansion like Reign of Shadows with new lands to explore, the standard mapping system gets new maps, new points of interest (POI) and links to all the new zones. These files get updated from the Launchpad along with the rest of the expansion for everyone.
If you use EQ2MAP, you of course need to check for updates from the EQ2MAP page of the DarqUI utility or from the EQ2MAP updater app. These custom files include default POIs as well as all of the player-submitted POIs. Each time you open the utility it checks to make sure all the files are in the right place.
If you do not use EQ2MAP, the utility also makes sure new map files from the Launchpad are in the right place. The reason for all of this is to prevent getting duplicates between the default UI and the custom UI. There's already enough visual noise on the maps without getting double-vision.
So the takeaway is this:
1. Get Launchpad updates
2. Get EQ2MAP updates (if used)
3. Open and close the utility once
All done.
