Mardi Paws TShirt Design! [WIP & Final]

Ahhh, I've been really excited to share this but I sadly have to wait for the con to post it, or at least until they make it public. Which..they sort of have..which is why I'm posting it here right now since I'm not EXACTLY sure if I can share it on my social media accounts yet xD 

This past December FurEh (the convention in Alberta I'm GoH at for this year) gave everyone that attended their Christmas party a sneak peek at this years con shirt by printing a few for staff and volunteers to wear. I recently found out that there will be 4 colour options available, depending on the reg tier level you purchase. Though when designing, I was told the shirts would be purple, which is why I was using it here, primarily.

This was such a fun challenge for me! To break it down from start to finish:

- I was given the idea by the two con chairs and a few staff members to work with one of the cons mascots as a jester. Ideally a profile view to mimic busts you'd see on bills. I provided that, along with my own idea. I wanted to try and feature all mascots on the shirt, and I thought going with my button-eyed style would be super cute! I've been told they're appealing specifically because they look like cute little emojis x'D Anyway, they all loved that one so we went with that! 

- Onto colours! I got it inked up and began playing around with how the colours would look on the shirt. I liked the idea of only allowing the masks/accessories to pop, while the characters remained in a monotone light purple colour. They thankfully agreed with me there, and now it was down to choosing the font colours. D ended up being the most eligable of the two, I think, so they went with that one!  Also, the lineart is transparent! Meaning the lineart will be whatever the colour of the shirt is (in this case, purple)  

- Finally, I did a quick mock up on a stock photo I found online, just for their reference when it came to printing, and provided them with both a web file and high quality printing file.

So that's that! I'm really looking forward to seeing these shirts in person (5 months! <3)! And I'm so glad they went with a shirt colour that isn't black! I know everyone loves black, but my closet is sooooo full of black shirts! Purple will be a nice change and I can definitely see myself wearing this one outside of the con too (I hope others will feel the same about it too!)
