Multitile Actors, Revisited

Blog time! In order to put out Beta 14 as quickly as possible, while concentrating all my efforts on what was a very significant update that needed to happen at once, I kept the blog on hold despite having several topics I wanted to cover. Now that Beta 14 is complete, I've subsequently patched it six times, and also finished up compiling the Beta 13 player stats, the blog needs some attention and the first thing I wanted to do was revisit the topic of multitile actors, since that was a focus of the latest version, and something I've wanted to do for a long while. I'm pleased with the results and I think others can learn from my documented efforts to further improve the experience with this sort of content, so I've compiled the new features into a sequel to my older pretty comprehensive article Developing Multitile Creatures in Roguelikes.

The new one is simply "Multitile Actors, Revisited," covering wall smashing, pushing, crushing, various ally behaviors, and an FOV update. That's linked below.

Also today I was supposed to continue streaming my Comic Sans Scrapoids run from last week, and was really looking forward to it, but it turns out I once again got banged up a couple days ago, and it ain't good... Is it a new month of the year? Then you can bet I probably have a new concussion. It's amazing, I'm so careful every day, devoting so much focus to keeping this from happening, yet it appears there's nothing I can do to completely prevent it, I'm just really damn lucky like that. Why can't I be lucky with like a lottery or something xD

Anyway, once I get over at least the beginning of this, and hopefully can write up some more articles, it'll be back to concluding the UFD arc with Beta 15. Oh yeah, and I think the plan was to go ahead and do some feature voting for that release as well. I've got a list coming soon :)

Chungus Deets

You can see the article below, or head over to the blog here (password "chungusamongus"). Within you'll find both development info and also perhaps some useful info that will help understand how to interact with these fellows...

Hehe I do enjoy coming up with funny or cool names for passwords, and this one practically wrote itself!
