I'm gonna let you in on a little secret ...
Added 2020-06-05 20:34:12 +0000 UTCOkay, so I'm guessing you all gave Version 0.2.1. (or as I like to call it "version car crash") a test run? Lemme guess: it looked terrible. It didn't work. The whole thing played like a nightmare ... right?
Well, I think i figured out why. The more I was pushing Girl Games into a 'visual novel' format (multiple text boxes/images/etc) the more the software I was using to make it (Twine) wasn't handling it. Or rather, I was making all kinds of mistakes trying to get the CSS to do what i wanted to. Sure, it looked okay on my Mac Safari browser but from the feedback I was getting on TFGames, it was looking pretty dreadful on most people's machines!
So to cut a long story short, don't tell anybody but ... I've switched software!! I'm now gonna be making Girl Games using a program called Ren'Py instead - which is built specifically for Visual Novels. I'm confident it'll be able to do everything Twine did, but the end result should hopefully be a lot slicker and smoother!
And before you wonder if I've bitten off more than I can chew, take a look at this: https://ggrenpytest.neocities.org/ !!! That's right, I've ported almost all of the Prologue already (well, minus the paperdoll, UI elements and the 'night' section, lol). But this should hopefully give you a good idea of how the new version is shaping up!
I have to admit, after the crummy feedback that Version 0.2.1 received, I was left a little sore and licking my wounds. But maybe it was all for the best in the end, right? Let me know if you like this version better in the comments, or if you have any feedback! As before, it's just a really small early test build - the sleep (end day one) function isn't even working yet. But hopefully this will give you a little taste of things moving forward!
Have a great weekend everyone, and I promise to keep you all updated! Oh, and as with all the test builds I share with you, please keep the link to this new version secret for now ...

2020-06-06 08:48:28 +0000 UTCi tried it first in the latest version of Edge and when that didn't work i then tried in an older version of Chrome. the same thing happened in both browsers.

2020-06-06 04:01:52 +0000 UTCaw, shit. really?! i tried it from both my laptop and also my phone and it seemed to work fine. I know the web hosting aspect is pretty unstable - as with before I'm planning to mainly offer downloads, but I DO wanna make sure it also can work online. shit. this is really annoying. can you tell me perhaps what browser you're using right now (and also if you have time, maybe see if it works in a different one?). x

2020-06-06 01:58:59 +0000 UTChmmmm....the previous version [gg015patreontestbuild] worked, albeit with a few flaws, but this latest version [ggrenpytest] gives nothing but a black screen with a small menu consisting of Import saves, Export saves, and Ren'Py log (this occurs after a message of "preparing" and "downloading").
