PATREON fee restructuring?!

Hey guys,

I understand that some people are unhappy with the Patreon fee restructuring, and I am too! If the goal was to make sure creators received a larger cut of what our patrons were giving, it doesn't seem to have really worked out that, since I see a bunch of you guys canceling pledges. I don't blame you at all! This was news to me - I was informed of this change the same time you guys were.

I very much believe in the mission statement of Patreon. I've had a chance to meet some of the team and Jack Conte last month when I was in LA, and they're extremely committed and talented individuals. These changes were definitely NOT motivated out of greed on the part of Patreon, but they didn't seem to think this one through enough. They also didn't solicit the opinions of creators on what we thought of the plan before it was implemented. I 100% would rather take a bigger hit on my cut than lose any support because of additional fees.

I very much appreciate your continued Patronage, and I apologize if this means you can no longer support my channel and my videos, but I definitely understand.

Thank you all!

Adam

EDIT:

The Patreon blog has a breakdown of why they're adding it. I understand why, but it sucks for both you and me.

Comments

This may be old news, but I don’t see it in these comments. Patreon, in a blog post dated 13 Dec 2017, states they have listened (“loud and clear”) to feedback from content creators and supporters, and is not rolling out these new fees. Their statement seems sincere, humble, and professional. I like it!

If the P. O. Box solution is a non-starter, I'll switch to an annual payment, at least get rid of the monthly $.35 which I find super annoying for a small monthly contribution.
