Here is it... the storm that changed our perception of the ocean. It rattled us to our core and made us feel very vulnerable.
23 minutes of raw and real emotion during some nervous times caught in an unforecasted storm.

But don’t think of it as time wasted… think of it as extra time for troubleshooting that you bought by your fast night sail! And I’m sure it feels lucky, but my dad always told me “you make your own luck.” I think you both come from careers that required thorough preparation, and that has carried over—perhaps even subconsciously—into your sailing. You were very well prepared for this even if it didn’t feel like it in the moment!

Cheers Keith, yeh.. its interesting hey.. we always knew it was a possibility, hence why we wanted to get that anchor in properly.. we just couldn't get it.. we spent about 2 hours in the end before giving up. You may remember in our last episode that guy called us on the radio to ask if we had the motor on because we were sailing so fast during our night sail? Well, he ended up arriving while we were trying to anchor.. and probably even had time to crack open a beer... and we still couldn't anchor!!! It was a little frustrating and embarrassing to tell you the truth! All that time we had made up in our epic overnight sail, was lost. And I'm so glad we thought of the walkie talkie idea.. its like.. it all led to that one moment. So lucky Chris and Madie were onboard using the internet when it all unfolded too... talk about timing.

Riveting! Such an ominous feeling from the beginning when you know it’s coming. Out here, an oppressively hot day is a near guarantee of severe evening storms. I don’t blame you for being scared—and it’s much better than being over confident. But amazing job by both of you handling the situation!
