I had been plotting all fall about how to get it in the Club 3 poll after an unsuccessful attempt last year. Asking myself what the ideal time of year would be to submit it... gathering up evidence of why this would make a great episode... waiting for the right mix of opponents... one thing was for sure, I knew I shouldn't resubmit it until Scott was back as it has Scott written all over it, starting with the graphic design :) I can't wait for an episode on this exercise music that played as much of a part in my childhood at our annual visit to the parks !!! (And that I still use as a musical backdrop when I need extra motivation at my desk job haha)

It’s discussed in Stephen Anderson’s book Disney In-Between, about the years between Walt’s death and Eisner’s reign. Pretty good book! There’s a hilarious comparison between the miserable experience of working on The Black Cauldron and the much more pleasant Christmas Carol, as both were worked on at the same time. Being transferred to Christmas Carol was seen as a demotion, but people loved working on it.

From Donna’s Moroder stuff and my beloved Sylvester to the ridiculously cheesy (more often horrible ) cash grab crap I love most all of it. I have listened to the I Love Lucy disco 45 in the afternoon and went to a concert featuring the iconic Martha Wash in the evening.

BTW...that song you played at the end was not Shaddup Your Face. It probably was mislabeled. You need to hear the original Joe Dolce version. You could not escape it on the radio in the early 80s when I was growing up! I think that "Miss You" by the Rolling Stones, "Here Comes the Night" by The Beach Boys, "Shakedown Street" by The Grateful Dead, "Silly Love Songs" by Paul McCartney, "I Was Made for Loving You" by KISS, both "Heart of Glass" and "Rapture" by Blondie are all this kind of thing. It's like putting 2 genres together that don't mix at all and, miraculously, coming up with an entirely new third genre!
