The people with the trash grabbers (if they are not in a costume) in WDW are area managers. The grabber is like a status symbol, and is largely used to pretend to be doing something instead of working onstage.

I went 2 years back with my family (none of us are children) and while we all had a blast, it became painfully clear that it's a lot like Chuck E Cheese's unspoken rule. but now that he can take his boy, you could all drive down there and have a really great time!
