That's a Wrap: May 2025

Here's a recap of what we did last month!

Alan had a birthday! 🥳 I turned 44! It was magical. I'm suddenly so many fours. Really looking forward to 444, that'll be a banger of a year, 2325.

We kicked off May appropriately... with Star Wars content! On YouTube, we talked about Anakin and Padmé's relationship. Here on Patreon, we modeled healthy disagreement with our varied views on Star Wars movies and shows.

Outside of a galaxy far, far away, we posted videos about Eleanor from The Good PlacePixar's CarsRomeo + JulietJoel & Ellie from The Last of Us, and Lessons on Friendship from Pixar Pals.

We had a shoot! Most of the time, you see episodes months after we've shot them. But this shoot was unique in that we did a few episodes on movies/shows that are relevant now, so we rushed a few of them. It's good to know that we can do that, if needed, but it was hectic!

Right after the shoot, we road tripped to Pixar! We were invited back this year, and it was once again a delight. We got to screen Elio and shoot an episode afterward with some of the filmmakers. And Pete Docter (the man, the legend, the head of Pixar) kindly spared some time to shoot a celebratory 30th anniversary lookback at Toy Story. Look out for that in late summer.

While we were in Emeryville, we met up with some of you fine folks and watched Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning together. Have you seen it? What did you think of it and the whole series now that it's (supposedly) finished?

CT Studios has been slowed by a May shoot, traveling to Pixar (aw, tiniest violin) and general life insanity with three kids and end-of-school-year madness. But we're making progress on The Vessel script (should we drop the "The"? Would that be cleaner?) And we'll have a first draft by the end of June at the latest! Then Megan and Alan will spend a week or two re-writing Ashes to Ashes, while we're getting a budget and other stuff squared away for V-word. Bigger updates will start rolling in June!

Here's a sneak peek of what's coming next!

If you've got school-aged kids, you know May is a wild month! Now that June is here, we're soaking up the summer sunshine! ☀️ Jono here. I'm planning on spending the summer on the lake, at the pool, and at the movie theater with my family. Weirdly, summer is the season I travel the least: we've got all the good stuff right where I am! I'm looking forward to staying put for a while and enjoying life with the people I love.

Between summer vacations and family time, we'll be prepping for the next shoot. Even though it's summer, we're focusing on spooky season and beyond. Here's an emoji hint for an episode we're working on: 🕯️🧹✨

If you didn't get to meet up with us in Emeryville, you can catch us at fan conventions later this year. We'll be at FanX in Salt Lake City (details forthcoming) and hopefully somewhere on the east coast. Stay tuned to our social media for announcements!

How was your month? What are you looking forward to next month?

I’m realizing now that I’m about to recommend you do a relationship video on a movie from 1989 when Alan was 8?? However, it is a wonderful film called Parenthood with Steve Martin, Keanu Reeves, Diane Weist and others. It centers on basically many stages of parenthood…. And I’d love to hear your take on it. But I love hearing your take on so many things… Keep up the good work and watch movies!!

Hope you do the LGBTQIA+ romcom list for June as it is Pride month!
