Hey all, here's the video on Taiwan. I went through three different editors trying to get it done and ended up doing most of it myself as they struggled to edit in my style. So there were some complications there. I tried again upping the production value on this one (like the After Effects mapping sequences towards the beginning), hoping to make the content a little more entertaining. I think it worked but slowed down the process quite a lot. I'm going to focus on pushing this next one out faster.
I have three subjects I want to cover, and I'm still debating the order to cover them in. For the next one I want to cover the question: 'why are politics so negative?' I plan on covering it from a number of angles (history, theory, psychology), to hopefully give something satisfying and comprehensive. I have not found many deep answers to the question so it means primarily leaning on my own theorizing. It's something I haven't done much of yet on the channel ('What Makes An Argument Good' is really the only example), so hopefully that's not a problem for you guys.
The other two subjects that I want to cover soon are 1) Going back to domestic politics and the culture war (polarization, identity, issues with democracy), and 2) Covering political fiction, which I haven't done since Orwell. I'd love to cover Huxley.
Let me know what you guys think about any of that or the Taiwan vid, either through here or private messages. The feedback really does help. I'm trying to cover subjects that I'm personally interested in, but I'm also trying to balance that against what you guys want covered. Obviously the best scenario is when our interests line up.
