In BW any additional probes still increase mining speed, but before diminishing returns it's mineral places left x2 + (gases needed x3) Depends a bit on your build / etc. for the gases, but it's honestly something you need to try to get to the point where you can eyeball it quickly. There's not really "too many" harvesters in BW, and the ceiling for that kind of thing really is more your macro mechanics. For instance, my APM is really only 180-240 or so, while I can expand past 3 mining bases, it's rare that I can macro the income from more than 3 fully mining bases at once, so I tend to focus on that and expand a bit slower than other players my rank and keep those 3 bases and my main safe.
