As we were putting together this month’s offering, we knew we had achieved something pretty cool, and we hoped you would like it too... But we had no idea how crazy you would all get for it!
Sharing your reactions throughout the team is a great payoff for all those hours put in over weekends and into the small hours of the morning.
But more than anything, we are super happy that this release is giving you so much joy!
DOWNLOADING GREEK GODS
March’s release should be available to download from this Friday 5th. We had aimed to have it done a couple of days earlier but with February being a short month and the extra load of models we are creating this month, I am sure none of you will begrudge us taking an extra couple of days to get things up and online...
OVERLORD TIER: A full army for the price of a single Hero Miniature!
So... What with the new tier? We know some of you had questions about that and we were short on time to give you more detailed info, so here it is.
This Overlord Tier was really a test and we were not so sure about how you would like it...
BUT... WOW !!!
More people have already switched to OVERLORD than what we've anticipated!
It sure make sense because it's a crazy good deal... Imagine a full army for the price on one hero resin miniature in our shop!
But we were so short on time that we didn't have a chance to properly explain to you everything about these changes and this update is about clarifying what is happening with our tiers.
HOW TO CHANGE TIER?
First thing first: if you want to become an Overlord, check this link to learn how to upgrade your membership
By the way, changing Tier will not change anything for you regarding the Loyalty rewards: the number of months you've been with us is the number of months you've been on any Tier with us, whatever your Tier level is.
WE WERE NOT TO LET YOU MISS OUT ON THIS!
We would have loved to tell you about this new project in advance but we didn't want to tease you on something that we might not be able to deliver in the end.
The whole team has worked incredibly hard during the shortest short month of the year to produce twice the normal amount of models for this month’s theme. This was quite an endeavour, and one we were not quite sure we could pull off until the very end.
We could have played it safe and say: "Ok, this might lead to some last-minute changes and messy communication, let's shelve this Overlord Tier project until next month," but the troops were looking so good in the end, and this was creating such a good deal for you guys, we felt like "There is no way we can let you miss out on this!!"
Anyway, I wanted to clarify a few things in regards to the tier changes to allay some of your concerns and refine how we talk about them so you are clear on what this means going forward.
The LEADER tier is NOT CHANGING.
We cannot stress enough that the epic models you get each month, the price, the quality, the quantity, will not change.
The Leader tier will remain the focus for Heroes and Monsters of all shapes and sizes, together with a Centrepiece. The same epic sculptors will be working on this tier in the coming months, and they aim to improve the quality of models they produce each and every month.
As it has been from the start, so it shall continue!
Here is a detailed view of what you get this month in the Leader Tier (please note that all miniatures come with decorated bases)
THE OVERLORD TIER
A large chunk of the community has repeatedly requested troop units, and the Overlord Tier is the answer to that: an Add-on to the Leader tier, adding Line Infantry and Cavalry to back up the epic heroes we are creating each month.
These Line Infantry and Cavalry are meant to be the rank and file units of an army, or nameless NPCs causing issues for your adventuring party.
Each squad features different models led by a more elaborate Champion. After all, every team needs someone to lead them when the big boss isn't around.
As you have seen from this month’s collection, these troop units will look epic and have the Raging Heroes flavour through and through.
$6 to double the number of models in each monthly theme is an incredible value.
I could bring out the old Starbucks reference but there are some comparisons that show just how great this price is: once again, for less than the price of one of your resin hero, for less than the price of many other Patreon subscriptions, we are now offering an enormous bundle.
The Overlord tier offers enough models to build a totally unique skirmish army. Enough models to run an RPG campaign and cover any crazy thing your party decides to get up to, no matter how far away from your GM’s plans it is.
Oh, and did I mention modular scenery and an additional exclusive miniature?
You have the option to upgrade your Patreon tier for an extra $6 and get double the amount of models, right now.
And just to be clear, if you have already paid for this month’s membership you won't be double charged, you'll just make an additional payment of $6. Here is an article from Patreon which talks you through just how to upgrade your membership.
We understand that this new tier isn’t for everyone, which is why we have created this as a separate tier. We would not want to cram these models into the existing tier and force everyone's prices up, that would not make sense.
So here is exactly what you get in the Overlord Tier this month:
The PHALANX TIER
We were also hoping to offer you a slightly cheaper tier for those of you who would just be interested in the troops. But after investigating many different options, it turns out that Patreon cannot handle this for us because of its so many limitations. So for now this option will not be going live.
Your feedback made this decision a lot easier as pretty much all feedback was either “I want it all”, or “I am happy with the Heroes and Monsters”. We didn’t see much feedback looking forward to just having the troops on their own.
With that in mind, and to continue to make things as clear and simple as possible we will keep it at the two tiers:
- Leader for all your Hero and Monster goodness,
- And just for $6 more, the Overlord tier to add Infantry, Cavalry, modular scenery and an exclusive miniature

The number of comments asking for Greek Gods part II in April blew us away.
From hundreds of years of myths and legends, there is a bucket load of gods and heroes we haven’t been able to cover in one month, and we may struggle to get through them all in two months.
As always let us know what you want us to look for in April’s theme. Do you want Greek Gods part II, or something different?

Just as much as the Greeks, I'd say it deserves a majestically executed two parter, not necessarily in successive months - I can paint while I wait for more! The troops would be so very different too, a jackal headed army for Anubis to oppose Egyptian soldiery in full and beautiful armed regalia of the period, hooked swords and extraordinary polearms, helms more like headdresses. Tomb guardians preserved as mummies - we all have that image don't we? Their tomb masked pharaoh lord, resplendent in his chariot, returned to save his kingdom and oppose the forces of darkness and chaos. His consort the beautiful, consummate sorceress in the headdress of a priestess of Serket, goddess of medicine magic and healing - but also of bites and stings, all manner of spiders, beetles and scorpions spilling up and onto her base as takes on her mantle of war. (The base could be used more widely as a swarm of critters in it's own right if done carefully). What if she could also be used standing on the back of a huge scarab, racing along, beside her Lord? Scorpion warriors - been around as long as Runequest and the trope has been memorably freshened since. Maybe three or four revisitings over the next couple of years, to expand the might and magic of Egypt and establish a tabletop or proud display shelf genre in it's own right? What a theme for a proxy army! Gorgeously different and done better than anything that's used the themes before. Who ever did bling better than the egyptians? Who ever did radical war costume better? No-one has ever bettered them for striking, fantastical images of the gods, what a prospect to paint!!!

I'm sure it'll get sorted in the next few days, but are you sure you'll be able to keep such an ambitious scheme up month after month? I'd also like an upload to MMF, many other 3D printing Patreons seem to have it.

So either action, or some sort of getting ready-stand by poses rather than at rest relaxing on chairs or rocks or lying on the ground. But that just me.

Of course the lust elves are spicy--the name kind of says it all--but a lot of the TGG models are pretty conservative as fantasy women go. This months release had a decent balance as well. No one expects Aphrodite not to be sexualized but Athena wasn't so bad. Vampires too had a range in how sexualized they were depending on the character. Mermaids were all topless but...they're mermaids.

I'm thinking maybe another titan for the big bad, maybe Cronos? As for gods, maybe Hephaestus, Hades, Poseidon, Artemis, etc. Heroes could be Castor, Pollux, Icarus, Daedalus, and Odysseus. Maybe monsters could be the Lernaean Hydra, Charybdis and Scylla, the Chimera, the Minotaur of Crete, the Cyclops, etc. This is such an awesome set though, and so very well done that I'd love to see more.

2021-03-06 10:22:55 +0000 UTCSome suggestions for Greek Gods 2, if you go for that one: Human characters: Achilles & Hector in duel (but also useable separately), or Achilles & Patroclus fighting side by side, and some less fighty or even non-combatant types like Odysseus, Circe, Orpheus, Icarus, a Platonic philosopher-king, the Delphi Oracle Troops: Satyrs, barbarous but still semi-greek Thracians, a second set of greek warriors but with somewhat different helmets, those skeletons from Jason & the Argonauts; Monsters: Cyclops, the Colossus, a Hydra, Cerberus Gods: Hades, Poseidon, Hekate, Artemis, Hermes Terrain: some more bits that combine with the terrain from Greeks 1 so you can embellish your maze of the minotaur, a mausoleum, a sacrificial altar

Je suis 100% partant pour Greek II, après 2 d'affilés, ça risque de chouiner... Peut-etre passer sur un autre univers, nordique, aztèque, egyptiens, et y revenir plus tard. I will note that the troops for this month had two sets of humanoid women versus only one set of humanoid males and one set of monsters so they hardly seem under represented so far but I for one, wouldn't complain if we had nothing but female troops.

Clearly everyone has his specific Like-Things, but we have to be objective [so you are doing a great Job]. 1 - Nordic Monk Theme (Based on Harmony, Nature and Kung-Fu. Working with the inner Chi/Qi to rise their powerlevel). 2 - Undead Aztecs (Based on the Blood and Victim Culture; I think here we have a new kind of Undead, because they dont work with Energy (like Vampires or Tomb Kings), they are working with the Souls of Humans and Nature. So the Shamans can put an Human SOul into a Tree, and it becomes a new form). 3 - Sciencebased "Swampfolk" (The Base Idea is, that we have a Folk with a lot of different Lifeforms. The Leader are Scientists, especially for/to mutate DNA in other Life-Forms to change them or to build other Life-Species [like Symbiotics]. The possibility of Changing DNA were different, the "Amphibiens" working with Toxin/Chemicals, Cthulu working with biological Parasits [Virus-Particle] or mind-based Radiation). 4 - Verdalken-Culture (Base: They create there World like they want - to combine Life and Technique is the essential thing, paired with an high rate of Intelligence and religious aspects. So Sphinx-Creatures are the "Kings/Queens". Here is an dogmatic Culture, they thought, that only their way is the right one - the rest is primitive and must vanished. In addition to the gods from all the different families in all their gorgeous Norse gear and accessories, you have Fenrir, Jormungond, maybe Nidhogg for the big beasties. For people who wanted to see dwarves and dark elves maybe a Norse take on those for the troop options, and Yggdrasil as the centerpiece.

I'd honestly prefer more unique, original mythology, or non-mythological stuff, but if it is going to be mythology, I'd rather not have more of the same. There is enough that I kept my Leader tier, but more for non-Greek deity characters, within a homebrew. I'm not running a Greek mythology campaign, nor do I have any plans to in the next few years. But I will use *some* of the figures for other characters.

All these mentions of other pantheons have me wanting to play Scion (an RPG from White Wolf) again. Why not just go through all the major pantheons? I vote Tuatha De Danaan first! Runnersup would be Native Americans, The Norse, and the Amatsukami/Shinto gods. For the non-divine I'll get on the Wild West train. Runners up include The Underdark and Swamp Things (Bugs and Crocs and such). While I would like to see more Greeks at some point (Hermes and Icarus), I vote against a second month. I feel if you wait a little bit, your subconscious can reflect on this set and round 2 will be even better, and perhaps a little different. If you go for Greek 2 now, it will feel like just more of the same.

2021-03-04 22:08:06 +0000 UTCI suggest greek mythology part II (e.g., Hades, Achilles, Ulysses, Ajax, Hector, Paris, etc., one of Hercules' monstrous foes, King Xerxes "300-style" and some Persian soldiers with a brute, Artemis or Diana, etc. Then tease and deliver sci-fi for May to satisfy the sci-fi patrons. How about something like a more futuristic version of Mad Max/Imperator Furiosa v Lord Humungus with a few bikers (other inspirations of Netflix' Altered Carbon/the movie Priest)? Then you could incorporate Daughters of the Cruc./Day of the Dead style as some of the heroic survivors/protagonist.

I feel like it would be a lot better than the same style two months in a row and there's endless opportunities for creative ideas! Maybe one is riding his goat into battle! Another atop a dragon beating it with his mace, another a dwarf shaman shooting lightning! Leaning into their builder motif with plenty of hammers and weaponized sculpting tools.

Perhaps this month could put that into play? It could work off from the Cyberpunk style release, but focus on the more deranged gangs and despotic corporations. Or go for and Outriders post apocalyptic war in space setting? If Greek Part 2 happens, I'd like to see some Nymphs for Aphrodite. The Gorgon sisters for Medusa, and Echidna the mother of monsters as the leader of opposition for the remainder of Gods Like Hera, who could have her champion Argus.

Not because I don't like this release or anything but because I really wanted to see an undersea2 release, and so did a lot of other people. There was so much support including from RH staff that a lot of people thought it had been decided for the February release and were shocked when it wasn't. I support their reasons for the decision but, given that, especially because Greeks already kind of got a double release with the jump to the overlord tier, doing it a second month in a row is not cool. I would, however, be delighted to see a release for almost any other mythology out there. People have suggested Japanese, Celtic, Norse, Aztec, Inca, Maya, North American, Egyptian, African, and Indian and I would absolutely love any and all of those. I also like the "New LIfe" forest theme, wild west, and, especially, cryptids.

All these 300 themed helmets on every model make it hard for me to fit these guys into my other armies, which is what I’d like to do with these stl files. Like those troops are amazing but suddenly having that one unit in my army with those distinctive helmets makes zero sense in a beastmen army. Otherwise I’m loving everything, and thank you!

My personal preference would be either Egyptian Mythology (Part 1 ;-) ) to continue mythological trends, something more exotic like Mayans/Aztes or something suprising (a classic like for example erotic cult, or something wacky like disco undead or maybe erotic cult of disco undead! :D )

The argument that nothing changes is not true because something has changed. Before I was "completing my set" for $10 a month ($9 because I was early bird). Now I have to spend $16 to "complete my set." You can talk about number of minis, value, etc all day long but for people who experience FOMO, this is not the issue. The issue is literally the FOMO. For these people getting everything is more satisfying even if it is mathematically a lower value that another option where you don't get everything (I understand the overlord tier is a higher value I'm just trying to illustrate how FOMO works). Yes, the new tier is a great deal. Yes, I have a lot of money anxieties right now. Yes, I switched to the new tier anyway because of FOMO. Yes, I wish they hadn't rolled it out at this particular moment because it is a pain for me. Yes, I understand why they did it and am not objecting strongly because it satisfies a need people have been requesting and the patreon isn't all about me. HOWEVER, I do wish people would stop dismissing or steamrolling over the objections of people coming from a FOMO standpoint. Should RH change their marketing plan because of us small group? Probably not. Do we deserve to be really heard and have our opinions respected? Yes.

The possibilities are all so cool when you look at how bloody and proud the Celts were. Bards with carnyxes, fighting poets, politically empowered druids, warrior Queens! I'd be looking at the old Irish tales, with the Tutha as inspiration, Mannanon mac Lir riding across the waves with his nine sided spear, Ainé with her seductive grin and sharpened teeth. The Morrigan transforming into a raven ready to rain blood down upon the side of the battle that failed to properly honour her, Queen Medb ready to leap from the front of her chariot and skewer a warrior of Ulster, or the legendary Cu Cuhlain with seven fingers on each hand, one eye swollen up ten times larger than the other and a fountain of blood spouting from the top of his head in his battle rage. Every story has so much potential for awesome minis and I would be so excited to see what you did with it all. I wonder if Brittany has any of the old tales, might look into it.

I'm excited to try printing a few of these out even if they don't fit with anything I'm doing, they just look like a blast to paint :D Major kudos!! For future months, here are my thoughts: - I think Greek 2 would be fine, and it seems like a lot of commenters REALLY want that, but I would ask for a break between sets to see another theme explored. I think doing a different theme (could be anything of course) between mythology themes would be a really nice pattern but it gives people kind of an idea of what to expect month to month too. So like, idk example: Underdark -> Greek 2 -> Elementals -> Japanese 1 and so on and so forth! - I would LOVE to see other forms of mythology explored that are seriously hard to fine: Mesoamerican, African, Native American, and Hindu to name a few. I swear I almost never see anything from any of these cultures and it's such a shame, I think they're just as visually impactful as other culture's mythology and hey maybe someone will see something they love and get a new favorite! Here's some things I would love to see that are non-major mythology based: - Cryptids 😭💖 They come from all over the world and there are SO many good ones out there! I think everyone has a favorite cryptid so it could be a crowd pleaser. No idea how troops or armies would fit into that and that...worries me I suppose. I guess I don't know how many themes can survive these days that aren't tied into armies? :( Maybe someone else would have an idea? - Beast races! Loxodon, Lionfolk, Gnolls, Dragonfolk, etc! Dragonfolk have some decent models out there and there are a lot of Gnolls too but...Lionfolk and ESPECIALLY Loxodon are like finding a needle in a haystack! I'm a goblin for Gnolls though so I'll quietly hope for some cool looking ones that have variety. I think other anthropomorphic animals could fit here too. - Elemental planes themed! - Anything Eldritch and Mythos themed in nature has my attention! I'm a DM for a few things but mainly for Call of Cthulhu so even if I don't use minis on the table I will lovingly hoard and paint all of the monstrosities I can out of adoration. I loved the suggestion above that was biblical angels and those that weren't mean to be seen, which I think can totally roll into a set like this. I'm sure after I post this I'll have 900 other ideas, but my heart is on someone out there doing cryptids someday 💔 Maybe one day! Thanks again for all the hard work though and for taking the time to listen to everyone! A lot of other patreons I'm in kind of took away that option of feedback or voting (I understood their reasoning, but it still feels good to give some two cents) and I'm really happy you guys haven't stopped hearing people out! :)

Most 'Barbarian' minis which are produced are pretty norse themed - burly men and women wearing a little armor, a little fur, and carrying a big weapon. What if HI tried something slightly different? What if we added two helpings of native American look and lore, (Iktome and Coyote themes) another helping of Mongolian steppe style, and a big dash of Conan (Frazetta and Bell) epic feel? We might end up with native peoples that could do for native american, steppe, Conan, or just barbarians who don't look like Vikings. Just a thought.

I'm also surprised to see RH doesn't even remotely address earlybird backers losing their discount, or a way around it.... :( Also, as feedback, images would be better with a "here's the leader tier" and "here's what you get extra with the overlord tier". Would cut down the page a lot, and make it much clearer what the differences are.

Could easily do a series of deity releases looking towards other religions. There are some really cool mythos from all over the world/times to draw from, not just the regular Greek/Roman/Norse ones that most people think of. Don't get me wrong, absolutely love the greek gods, and doing a more typical lineup would also be amazing, just saying you might be able to draw a lot of inspiration from the less typical ones too!

They could have started another Patreon but instead they are doing it this way. As for the fact of the more member the more money yeah that is a truth but this goes up slowly and if they are to commit to this they are going to have to hire more artists now and that is going to cost them more. I upgraded not so much because I want to build an army but because I want them all but that is me.

For the people that wanted to build an Army they can now do so with a variety of troops to fill the ranks. I can see how a person might feel as if they are missing out, but the extra troops are not really intended for the average gamer/play session. Since most gamers build at most 1-2 armies a year, its not a lost.

I can't wait to see what you do next - for me, I'd love to have Paladins or High Elves to match your fantasy sisters/dark elves, but that's just me. Now, I hate to say it, but I have some criticisms of this month's models. Let me preface my words by saying that I love you guys, I love your work, and I think your sculpts are amazing ... but ... gear. There appears to be lot of unconnected armor among the non-god models in this release. Look at the Spartan warriors - they have two shoulder pauldrons, but only a single strap (that I can see) going across the chest - nothing is securing the other pauldron. I'd love to see actual breastplates as well - I mean, the point of armor is to cover the vitals unless you are a gladiator - but these are probably '300' style Spartans who don't need them. (sigh). I see the same issue on the Centaurs and Minotaurs - shoulder armor that just seems to be hanging there. The Amazons are beautiful but don't seem to have quivers for their arrows. (It's possible I just can't see the straps/connections/gear in the shots we have, in which case, ignore me) They have lots of lovely straps on their sandals but I'm not sure what's holding all those heavy swords and shield on their backs. Love you guys, and I love your work. I'm just an armor nerd and can't help noticing these things. Can't wait to see the next release!

It would be kinda cool to get a full set of Mountain/Highlands (not Frost/Ice - that's been done to death lately) heroes/monsters/dragons/dragonkin, and monstrous troops. Troops don't always have to be human/humanoid. Some trolls, ettins, ogres, mountain giants, chimeras, orcs, goblinoids, some fey/fairy folk, lots of dire and/or giant animals, giant insects and of course some mean spiders. A healthy does of dwarves and dwarven scatter. Travelers and travel related scatter pieces (caravan wagons and maybe a large campsite). Another theme could be "The Crypt" which covers all manner of undead in a massive crypt dungeon setting. With a lich and an undead beholder boss as the BBEG.

Missing Gods are: Hera Hades Artemis Demeter Dionysos Hermes Hephaestus As minor Heroes there are: Ulisse Perseo Teseo Achilles As Giant Monsters (like Typhoon): Scylla & Carybdys is a good option because is linked to the Kingdom of the Depths. Giant Scorpion (Clash of Titans). It can be used also as troop transport/war machine with a platform upon it. Giant Phoenix Talos (the mechanical Giant statue) Echidna As monsters (like Minotaurs and Meduaa) Arachne (spider woman cursed by Athena … but you made spider cult, so this is hard to be innovative) Sphynx (not with Egyptian features of course) For troops, you just made mortals and some monsters in this release; I would like to suggest add some mechanical ones: Colchid Bulls (Mechanical Bulls Like in Percy Jackson) Bubo the Mechanical Owl (Clash of Titans) Chariots (you can just use Apollo’s one as base) Harpies Lamian Centaurs (Ox-Horned Centaurus) Priest/Priestesses of Gods (divine caster in an army) Oracles (mages in an army) For Modular Center Piece you can expand the previous one with other options (Statue, Altars, Brazers, etc) or create a new one like a Holy Forest, a War battleground (where Gods and monsters are fighting) or an Arena where Gods are watching the monsters fighting like gladiators. After Greek i would appreciate some releases about Japanese lore too, like other people said before.

Personally I do not like upsell or tier-based Patreon setups. Patreon is not a Starbucks. Yes, you can make a value argument for the extra content. But there is not a resource being consumed for each individual customer. If this Patreon had 10,000 users versus 3000 users, the costs to produce a set of models would be the same. I feel that these extra pieces should be included once you get to a number of subscribers that is comfortable for your team. My biggest gripe is that it preys on the FOMO aspect that is inherent to most Patreon projects. (If you don't subscribe each month you're going to miss out or have to pay twice as much later.) FOMO is not cool. FOMO is annoying. This is obviously my opinion. It is also my opinion that you create some of the most beautiful models each and every month. I'm not actively into war gaming, I just love the art...which this Patreon has in spades.

While I think a good step for a sister release to this would be a part two of the Greek mythology; where this one was the heights of Olympus perhaps we could see a darker mirror- Hades, Cerberus, the Fates, souls of Asphodel/Tartarus, Charon, and so on. As was mentioned above, in the future, perhaps not back-to-back, it could be considered to branch out into other pantheons such as Egyptian, Norse. Just my two cents. In any case, I applaud the range of imagination and detail in the designs from this release and in the past.

Like "Dispatch Cadre" or "FeudWhoop." Maybe, a few of those since they can be fairly small depending? Or perhaps a decent sized army of units for "TussleMallet 40K" itself?

These models are fantastic, superb, excellent wonderful (there are not enough superlatives in the dictionary to express my pleasure of these styles). A second set in April would be great as far as I am concerned I really love this style. Then maybe the Norse/Viking pantheon with the Halls of Valhalla as a centre piece? Your team seem to do mythology characters so well I think it would look great and I would be happy for the rest of the year as it will take me that long to print 3 months of models on the Overload tier. Just keep on doing what you are, it is so good I'll be here until I join the Gods. (Also maybe just a little something with some cats involved, as I'm mad about them as well.)

If not, maybe even more work for you because it includes more gods and creatures: The Egyptian gods. Otherwise, a job would be great too, if you hire I'm available.

Since April is usually associated with spring time and rebirth you could always go with a "New Life" theme, based around Druids/Dryads mythos and have some monsters with their cubs/hatchlings or just baby monsters to go with some previous releases creatures.

There are overlaps in theme between Greek, Roman, Celtic, Norse, and Slavic mythology that would allow creative wiggle room while still satisfying the demands for European mythology. I'm looking forward to seeing what appears in the new tier this year!
