Important Update regarding my Patreon
Added 2019-06-05 11:19:35 +0000 UTCHey Patrons, Cutman here.
In the coming week, I will be changing this Patreon campaign back to focus on music, rather than my new youtube show, Producer Quest. The show will be canceled this summer.
The format will change back to monthly pledges, rather than per post. Rewards will be downloads of music and mixes that I produce. I wanted to focus more on music anyway, so perhaps this is for the best.
Simply put, my music production educational show Producer Quest has caused this campaign to hemorrhage pledges. I had thought I could fund my new show while still supporting my legacy music projects, but evidently, I was wrong.
For transparency's sake, I was making about $500 a month before starting Producer Quest. This totally covered funding for the This Week in Chiptune podcast catalog, the website, and the streaming radio stations Radio Cutman and GameChops Radio. This also covered hosting for the Dj CUTMAN mixes catalog, which was available for high tier patrons.
This past month, I earned $297 for my first episode, and less than $20 for the second. I estimate the cost of maintaining TWiC and the Radio projects to around $200/month, leaving far too little to fund my new show.
The most important thing to me is to maintain TWiC and the Radio stations I know so many of you love. My only option is to put all available funding towards that, and pull Producer Quest from Patreon.
It's clear, the interest isn't here to support Producer Quest. I am still dedicated to helping folks learn how to become better producers and creators, but for now, I will have to find another way. I will be self-funding the remaining episodes I have written, and hope they can provide value or entertainment for those who see them.
As always, I am open to feedback and would love to hear from you. For those of you who have stuck with me, I greatly appreciate it.
If you or someone you know has removed your pledge since Producer Quest began, I hope you reconsider pledging once the campaign has been updated to reflect the change.
Going forward, I hope this campaign can stabilize as a long term home for my music. Thank you for taking the time to read this, patron or not, I appreciate you.
