Yo man, first off thank so much for the shout out. I really appreciated that and the kind words put a smile on my face after having a really hard day. I REALLY appreciate it Devin. Thank you man. So the film itself is a good watch, especially if you even have the lightest understanding of whats going on in west Africa (STILL). If you had no knowledge of the conflicts going on there it's still a good movie to watch however if you DO know what happened(s) there it makes the movie so much more powerful because you see almost all the pawns on the table at play! So here are the pawns in no specific order. Also taking off the Holywood touch and just Generalizing the roles they play. Danny Archer: Representation of all the smugglers in the countries of West Africa willing to do alists who are so quick to report on a storywhatever it takes to get that money. Will be just at brutal or kissing the right asses to get where they need to go. Maddy Bowen: All the journalists who are quick to get in on a blood thirsty story. They are quick to exploit and thencondemn the rich and the poor alike just to get their story heard or purchased so they can make their money. Most of them do not care what happens in the countries and don't want it to stop so they can continue to exploit the exploiters for money. Solomon Vandy: Representation of the native peoples of the land who must live in a war zone and try to presever any way possible while attempting to keep themselves and their loved ones alive living in the consequences of the people in power's decisions. The Colonel: The head of freelancing mercs of different nationalities ex military who use their brute force for whatever reason to whoever pays the most. Van de Kaap & Co: The big corperations who do not play by the same rules as the normal people of the country. They are vicious and calloius and will promote destabilization just to drive up their revenue destroying many lives and families with indifference. Capt Poison: The basic representation of all the warlords in the West African countries who will attempt to rise to power through exploiting their own peoples to gain resources to fuel their revolutions. Children are one of their main targets. I actually wrote a paper for my history class my senior year in highschool about Conflict Diamonds. It is insane and disgusting how companies and governments will promote destabilization and chaos just to get what they want. What companies that insanity is the fact humans can be evil enough to take children and brainwash them into their ranks to do their bidding. It's seriously disgusting man. They will drug them, put them through cultural witchdoctor ceremonies to make them believe they are invisible or that they can not be harmed by bullets. They sexually assault them and at the end of all of that (if they are still alive) if they are no longer of use they will sell them to human traffickers. Also one another thing that drives me up a wall is the fact that diamonds literally do NOTHING for the world, they are not important. The only reason there is value in them is because the big companies that tell you what to think,eat buy etc. say you need them to show your love for someone else. THAT'S IT They do nothing for the world besides be used for fashion. ON TOP OF THAT reporters, some activists and even other diamond companies say that IT IS UP TO THE CONSUMER to stop the diamond conflicts! The balls on these people! It is NOT up to the average middle classed joe to stop these conflicts, it's up to the companies and the governments who created the demand for the diamonds and the power vaccums in the conflict areas! Sorry for the rant but that kind of stuff just gets me heated. I hate exploitation and gaslighting with a passion. Thank you for doing the movie Devin, I really enjoied watching it again and watch the character arcs even though some of it was hard to stomach it's good to bring awareness to the issue and not romantisize it but to show it in the negative light it creates. I can't wait for the next one brother thank you for the great content, keep it up brudda! OH YEAH! Another movie that is completely unrelated to this one besides the fact that it is AMAZING and has a diamond in it. Check out the movie "SNATCH" I really think you would enjoy it bro. for real for real. Until next time Dev! 10/10
