May i recommend Casualties of War starring Sean Penn and Micheal J Fox. Its not your typical War movie experience and it touches on some very dark topics but as a Vietnam veteran my father said it was a story needed to be told and discussed.

2021-03-01 20:56:08 +0000 UTCDevin should start a poll for movies that won’t be so sad I guess is how to put it haha. Not that all war movies leave you sad but they usually ain’t happy. I’d be glad to give some ideas too. It’s funny because I’ve always loved showing people movies I like so I guess it’s why I’m here lol.

2021-03-01 20:35:26 +0000 UTCMaster and Commander are both great choices! Watching some of the older classics is a good call too, like Bridge Over the River Kwai, or The Great Escape
2021-03-01 20:05:04 +0000 UTCCity of Life and Death, great movie that will leave you feeling some time of way after. kinda of like Schindlers List ( as in war atrocities committed against the chinese by they Japanese). but this one is set in Nanking China during the second world war

Live Die Repeat, Scifi war movie not based on anything, The Brotherhood of War (Korean War Film), Behind Enemy Lines and All Quiet on the Western Front (1930's ww1 film but trust me it is fantastic). The Pianist and Life is Beautiful are two other good movies that deal with the Holocaust but do not watch these close together as they are obviously going to be sad. Braveheart and Master and Commander are two movies you must watch with Braveheart having some of the best battle scenes in any movie ever made and one of my favorite movies ever made. I have a lot more but I will stop for now.

2021-02-27 17:18:49 +0000 UTCAll 3 are good choices. I picked 1917, because it is the best. Fury holds a place in my heart since I was a tanker in the US Army. (A Co. 2/81st Armor, A Co. 2/63rd Armor, D Co. 1/127th Armor)
