The guys going to the other guys for advice, is the always the worst idea, and they do it all the time.

I think it is OK to be jealous, and Rachel should have accepted it is weird that Mark just offered the job and should have said "I will still take the job because I really want it but I will not have lunch with him, he is a bit weird" and just work there, being just friends with Mark. And also I think it is VERY WEIRD to go on a play date with the stripper as well. I don't think Ross should have a play date with a random woman with a random child. I am not saying this because of the stripper thing mainly, I would be weary about where I go with my child in general but the stripper thing also would make think as well because this is my child we are talking about.

Yeah I think the situation definitely blurred the lines a lot!! Like Rachel took a great opportunity and also made a nice work friend out of it but she also made Ross jealousy so much worse so it’s kinda half and half hahaha I think they are just really different people you know

finally got around to watching this today. Here are my thoughts on the Rachel Ross situation. This comment may come across controversial but I stand by it. I will also preface this comment by saying that I worked in the nightlife industry in Canada for 2 years and saw the dark side of cheating and all the problems that arise with it, so I would naturally have a more extreme opinion then others.
1. Ross is absolutely correct that there is not one man in this world who would do a nice thing for a strange beautiful woman without the hope that he would eventually be able to sleep with her. The reason we know this is because given that we are men we know how other men think in these types of situations and we become incredibly protective of our woman. Hard truth, Mark wouldn't offer the job to an ugly woman, I promise you that.
2. The fact that Rachel accepted this random mans offer is extremely dangerous in the first place given that she doesn't know him. He could be any type of crazy person. I'm convinced the opposite of point 1 above is also true, she saw a handsome man offer her something she really wanted and she was charmed by him. If Mark was ugly she wouldn't have accepted it and thought he was a creep. The meme with the woman's reaction to the handsome vs ugly office guy asking her out applies here.
3. What Ross should have done is make his boundaries extremely clear to Rachel that he does not tolerate Rachel accepting a random mans offer. Monica and Rachel waving off Ross's concerns (that Joey validated) shows she does not respect the relationship or his boundaries. If Rachel valued the relationship over a job (which she already had) then she would have stuck it out with the original fashion job until she worked her way up and earned a higher position which is basically how 99% of humans progress in their career.
4. Rachel should not have entertained these lunches with Mark given that she knows how Ross feels about the situation. Mark does not need to celebrate with Rachel under any circumstance. If there is a welcome lunch, get the whole office to go out for lunch, not just Rachel and Mark
5. From Marks point of view he comes across as the guy who is waiting for his opportunity, which is what Chandler and Joey were saying in the café. A large amount of men who want women and don't have any self respect will accept the friendzone scenario until the time when that girl comes to him complaining about her boyfriend. The guy will swoop in as the hero and comfort her hoping she will let her guard down so he can sleep with her. Guys understand this concept inherently while I've found that women rarely want to admit this truth.
6. Now while I say all of the above, Ross definitely went too far by love bombing Rachel with gifts and the singers. Again Mark simply just has to wait until the relationship begins to burn and swoop in if he chooses. Ross does this out of a lack of self esteem clearly which he needs to fix.
7. Rachel is definitely a hypocrite at the end of the episode by having the same problem as Ross did towards her. Most women don't respect women who work in the sex industry and so hates the fact Ross is going to spend time with her. Her competition anxiety kicks in and she gives him a huge kiss. Now while Rachel is a hypocrite it is also completely fine for her to have this issue as its normal to be jealous and territorial of your man/woman.
Hopefully this makes sense to everyone

I’m actually watching Friends with my husband right now. He’s never seen it before. We recently watched this episode. His opinion on Mark is the same as the other guys in these comments. He says Ross is not wrong to be side eyeing Mark and thinking he’s wanting to move in on Rachel. There’s no need for him to be taking her to lunch. 🧐 Like you said, one lunch and that should probably be it.
Ross is also not handling it well with the way he is smothering her. Whatever Mark’s intentions are, IT IS a great opportunity for Rachel. She and Ross need to talk with and listen to each other about boundaries in their relationship and what they’re comfortable and not comfortable with. At least Ross did open up to her at the end about some of his insecurity stemming from what happened in his first marriage, which is very understandable.

Hahaha I love that you are low key like "give me drama season 3!"
I love the Chandler/sister story. Its just a funny situation to put him in. And he jokes about not being able to get women but he got two of Joey's sisters!

No spoilers but all i'll say is "I hate Mark and Ross is in the right period" lol no good guy is ever just "nice" for no reason lol if you're "nice" to an attractive woman and you have wrong intentions don't buy it

Yeah I understand that 😊 his level of jealously is obviously affecting his relationship with Rachel tho so he needs to be an adult and have some sense of control, that’s what I’m hoping for at least 🙏🏼

Yeah I do agree with you a bit as well! It’s def sketchy being offered a job interview from a random but if I was in Rachel’s postition and I hated my job that much I’d take anything ahahaha it annoyed me that Ross couldn’t see it like that from her perspective you know?
I’m really hoping for ross to control his jealously more tbh 🙏🏼

Yeah I think he’s scarred a bit from carol which really sucks 😭😭 poor guy honestly anyone would be a bit insecure after that ahaha but yeah he def took it too far at Rachel’s work! Especially since it was only the first week and she was probably so nervous

Carol really messed Ross up with her cheating on him and people overlook that a lot. If you never got cheated on you can't talk about him being toxic because that really does a number on your trust even if you love your partner.

I'll be honest..
Maybe it's cause I'm a guy but all I saw was a strange dude hitting on my girlfriend too lol like why'd he offer her the job? They didn't even know each other. Idk sketchy sketchy.
That being said God Ross is bad at handling his jealousy. I get being jealous, but be better at it dude.
I like the ending. I have a friend who is a dancer... So hanging out with a stripper isn't really weird to me. It's honestly just a job.
But I thought it was important to show they can both be jealous of each other... Just Ross is much worse at handling it.

Joey’s fake dance numbers he teaches the other actors is one of my favorite memories from the show. I love the way he runs out of the class is straight out of a cartoon.

I also think Ross's jealousy was more than normal. I was glad he went into why that was in the 12th episode. It's because of what happened with Carol. It's a sore spot for sure and would definitely leave someone heartbroken in a way that may affect other relationships in the future. Rachel was really sweet about it when he told her as well, I really love that moment.
I wouldn't say he was sabotaging anything for her in the 11th episode though. He was mostly saying his opinion and his suspicions, sabotage is a huge word that doesn't really have a place in anything he was doing. BUT the 12th episode, with the boyfriend gifts for her desk and coming to her workplace, there I can agree it could have backfired and harmed Rachel.
