Oh Sarah Lynn was always more famous than BoJack, but her relationship to him specifically is a special case. Their dynamic being a father-daughter one already has an inherent power balance, and basically everything Sarah Lynn learned she learned from BoJack willingly telling her horrible things and encouraging her for decades to follow in his footsteps. “Don’t stop dancing” and all that. She was younger than 10 when he first gave her that little speech. They basically interacted with each other as if they were not famous because she grew up with him as if he was family, so their celebrity status had virtually no effect on their relationship. Personal responsibility is a thing, that’s true, but she’s dead now and there’s nothing anybody can do about it except punish the one that ultimately caused it, even if other factors played a part as well. I’m glad you enjoy the comments, at the end of the day the moral of the story is “understand the position that you’re in and don’t leave addicts behind when they’ve overdosed”, which I think everyone can agree with haha

I’ve actually read these and enjoy them quite a bit Chelle just trying to finish my post talk for the reaction so I can upload it! We talk a lot about power for sure and Bojack def isn’t innocent. I also def believe in personally responsibility and not robbing people of their own power and their own consent. Sarah Lynn between horsing around and season 1 seemed to have way more celebrity power as well. I think I agree Good Samaritan law or no, Bojack killed her in that planetarium. To me that is the worst thing he has done and there is no dodging that event or making excuses. I appreciate the long comment by the way and I hope you enjoyed our reaction

The truth is, while BoJack obviously isn’t the sole reason for everything that happened to Sara Lynn, his role in her life cannot be ignored. He absolutely influenced her in ways that honestly are indefensible. For example, “I took her to rehab” doesn’t look good for your image when months later you’re the one that invites her on a month-long bender because as always you’re only thinking about yourself. Yes Sarah Lynn had the power to say no, but BoJack called her up FIRST, when she was sober, someone he sees as a “daughter-figure”, before anybody else, specifically to ask her to “party” with him. And ofc, there’s the whole “leaving her to die” bit, which speaks for itself. I do believe that BoJack does enjoy having power over women because he literally uses them as a means to escape his own misery. He has power over people, both in terms of his celebrity status and in some cases father-figure status. So even though it’s not actively malicious, he does abuse the power he has. Also, the reason the interviewer specifically talks about the women in BoJack’s life is because that’s what relevant to the Sarah Lynn story, and he definitely has had more power over women than men. And he still tries to escape responsibility, despite trumpeting his own moral righteousness this whole season. Now you will witness all the consequences come crashing down on him at once. Oof, that was a long comment 😅 you probably won’t even read all that, but I hope I at least made some sense

It's also interesting Bojack's first instinct was to go to his old stand up club. The one area of his life he rarely talks about are the days when he was a no-name comedian just putting on late night shows. I think he always found it pointless but now realizes how great they were. It was after he managed to escape his toxic household but before he got famous and gained toxic tendencies. When he truly was just Bojack.

that second interview was tough. On the one hand we know that there was some context missing from what Biscuits said. But on the other hand there is some things we know that she was right about and some stuff we didn't even think about. Like the revelation that Bojack waited 17 minutes before calling an ambulance. If someone I was with was hurt in any way, whether be a heart attack or an overdose, the first thing I would do is call 911. Same with any of us. Bojack said he went into panic mode but his first instinct when Sarah Lynn OD'd was to cover his own ass and he had the presence of mind to wait 17 minutes before calling an ambulance. We were all anticipating a relapse into alcohol and drugs but those are symptons not the real problem. Instead he relapssed back to the attitude that led to his addictions. The fact he so quickly brushed off Princess Carolyn by indirectly saying he didn't love her and how he quickl threw Sharona under the bus he hasn't truly changed.
