"Ace Of Spades" (Motorhead) Solo Lesson/Analysis

I've been bombarding y'all with some pretty advanced stuff recently so I figured it's time to briefly chill and provide something for our less experienced brethren!

The solo to this classic tune consists of very straightforward fingerings and patterns, making it a perfect introduction to lead playing. There's also a good amount of 3/4-step bending and some syncopation in the rhythms, which will most likely provide a lil' bit of a challenge for fresh-faced guitarists.

Good luck and don't forget to share your progress with everyone in the Discord server!

I have recently been wanting to learn a Motörhead song or two, the timing of this post couldn't have been better, ha! Wonderful tutorial! :)

I usually start the solo with the A played on the open A String. I find it easier this way to play the slightly bent D on the 5th fret of the A string which follows. But there is certainly no wrong or right. It‘s just an option that feels more natural to me. Great transcription of a very cool tune! Thanks.

Haha deffo gotta make that happen!

True!

This is cool, thanks for the lesson. No open strings makes it simple to just play in E-standard too

Surprised you didn’t make a Craydle o Feelth shirt. Great solo by “Not-so-fast” Eddie Clarke!
