2021-04-15 10:20:48 +0000 UTCWell... π€ The honest answer would be that most humans just look at similarities and try to see what's similar and what's different but it becomes hard when something is unfamiliar, or when there are not enough visual clues. So he registers visually that she looks like the other marias, but it's how she normally behaves that makes him recognize her. And her being hurt like that is harrowing for him because it hinders him at a base level to recognize her which is honestly scary because he might feel like she could lose her in a crowd and be unable to recognize her. And that's scary, because it's not something he can act against, much like she can't act against her base programming. π€π
