Groovin' on Gerber and Ostrander

Lately I've been binging the work of John Ostrander. I've been going between The Spectre, Suicide Squad and have Grimjack and Starslayer loaded and ready to read. So, I might to a video highlighting a good portion of his career. I don't know. Right, I'm just digging the Ostrander vibe and haven't written a thing.

The long gestating script about Steve Gerber in the '80s is officially complete and about a good and informative as I can make it. I literally did a final polish on it before writing this post. So, odds are real good that's the next BIG project I do. It covers everything he wrote between 1980 and 1989, some of which I've already covered in-depth. But there's a lot I haven't. So, it's all compiled together into one script that will likely be a half hour video.

The first digital comic, Shatter, is also looking like it will be a video sometime soon. It's better than I remember and it's worth a place in the history of the medium. I remember being put off by its strictly digital approach and I kind of thought it was both a bad direction for artists and a novelty. So, I've always had a low opinion of it. That said, having thoroughly enjoyed Strikeforce Morituri, I'm more than willing to give Peter B. Gillis' work another look. And, well, we are deep in the Digital Age of comics now, so an objective re-evaluation might be a good idea. It definitely didn't set a trend at the time, but it might be an important first step as the medium progressed into a purely digital space? We'll see.

Between all of this I'm trying to find a few hours to do a livestream and field question from y'all. It's been challenging because everything I've done recently has been labour intensive, involving tons of reading and research. But I'm trying my best to find a block of time.

Finally, I've mostly completed a script about my process of, well, writing a script, choosing topics and how I approach essay writing. I know some of you are curious how I do what I do and I thought it might be worthwhile to give you some insight into what exactly goes into the production of a video. Really, the most important part is the script. So I've been trying to document in detail the steps I take to create one and how I evaluate what does and doesn't make the cut.

Perhaps I should read it live? I've considered that to provide undeniable evidence that my voice (or anything SBP related) is AI generated. Again, we'll see. I think it's a good idea, though.

So, that's it for now, folks. That's a lot of work to get through in the next few weeks. I hope you're all doing well!

Aw, geez, that's very nice of you to say. Thank you. I do keep things like that in mind, especially during the long, long, long hours of putting videos together. Much appreciated. :)

Hey! Just so you know! A lot of times I don't comment on youtube (and almost never post anything here) but remember that a lot of us deeply enjoy your work even if we don't say so! Keep at it, you are great!
