What's Next And Stuff

Hello everyone!

I know it's been a few weeks since I've updated what I've been doing behind the scenes, so it's time to fill you in on the details. Let's start with the image above...

For the record, that's the working title of a digital book that began as a compilation of my various Cerebus scripts into one neat, PDF or Epub package. Probably PDF. Anyway, since I'm, umm, details oriented, I couldn't just copy and paste those past scripts into a document, slightly format them for publishing and call it a day. No. I had to go back, check all my information sources, rewrite bits for clarity and add every deviation I cut when assembling the videos I eventually produced.

The section involving the first volume, Cerebus The Barbarian, had, roughly, 2,200 words added to it. To give that context: That word count usually translates to about ten minutes when translated into a video. So, not an insignificant amount.

That said, this is something I'm working on in the background. Whenever I find myself stuck on a script for a new video I pull this out to edit it, add images and text to it, until my brain warms up and I go back to new scripts. So, I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. But I continually pick away at it.

Had I the luxury of time and the financial means to support myself during production (I have neither), I'd love to remake the entire saga (with the bits originally cut for time and relevancy) into a three or so hour documentary type of video. That would take at least six weeks to produce and, practically speaking, another 2TB hard drive to store all the rendered video files. Sadly, that's a massive undertaking I simply can't afford at this time.

It's possible I might do what everyone wants me to do and create videos looking at the remainder of the series. Heavy MAYBE on that. I already tried to write about the next volume, Guys, and found myself simply documenting the details of the notion I developed many, many years ago. And that would be: The final third of the series is merely an elaboration on the beliefs of Sim, following the infamous mission statement published in Cerebus 186. So, unless I can among to find a mental way to NOT skew it in a specific direction I'm not sure if I'll pursue that project.

How about other stuff that is actually being worked one?

As some may have noticed, the last six months have heavily included mainstream, superhero stuff. Mostly the Fantastic Four. This was a concerted effort to generate more interest for the channel and hit that 50K subscriber goal.

That effort failed. Oh, I got close, but you know what they say about close, right? It only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. In other words: I'm not making excuses for myself. I failed. The ridiculous AI accusations probably didn't help, but the full blame goes on me. I didn't deliver.

So...for now...my attention has focused elsewhere.

The next video is likely to focus on the bizarre movie and comic book adaptation of Rock & Rule, the obscure, animated feature from Canada. In fact, I decided to experiment a little and emulate the production of the movie itself. I have an idea of what the video is about and I'm LITERALLY writing it and assembling it before the script is complete. It could be a disaster. But, to hell with it. I'm going to do it. Anarchy FTW.

This was inspired by a retrospective of the Marvel Super Special magazines that I'm deep into writing. Which will likely follow in a few weeks time. It's fun. I'm really enjoying looking back at those adaptations of movies. Some are not too bad. Some are, well, only as good as the source material. Some are confusing. But, the point is, it's something I find myself interested in and doing a LOT of research about it because it's so damn cool. I hope that comes across in the final video.

Finally, I want to force myself into streaming. Specifically, stream myself playing City Of Heroes. This is to accomplish a few things. First of all, I can connect with all you fine, lovely people. That's the main reason. Especially after six months of grinding superhero material and practically not existing in any tangible manner. Next, with a livestream and an active camera (which is shitty quality, but that's all I have) that can, once and for all, assure that further AI related comments are put into a shallow grave. But, more importantly, it makes me take time and RELAX! Sure, I'll technically be working, but it gets me out of my head for a few hours and not obsessing about the script I'm currently working on.

The only issue I've not overcome is being unable to see chat comments while playing. I don't have a second monitor, so it's currently impossible for me to interact while playing. Which seems to defeat the purpose of streaming.

I know. First World problems. I'll see if I can come up with a solution.

So, that's about it for now. Time for me to get back to work.

As a long time lover of Rock and Rule, and a Canadian, I can't wait.
