BTS: Editing Audio

This week I did some recording with the intent of showing my work, so to speak. By that I mean, what I put into each audio recording to make it sound decent and professional. This is real time, with no video edits.

Now, I didn't make a video of myself recording this audio. Because all you'd see is me sitting under a black comforter to muffle the room noise. Not exactly thrilling to view. Heh.

Anyway, here you get to see and hear the multiple takes I do, the editing of those takes together and repairing portions of audio for clarity. As you'll see, I work pretty fast and use keyboard shortcuts that don't show up in the screen capture. Mostly I'm either making a portion of audio silent (to get rid of breaths and clicks in the track) or repairing the audio with Audacity's repair tool.

So, to put all of this in context: I spend seven and a half minutes to cut together nineteen seconds of audio. Using my finely honed multiplication skills, it takes me roughly twenty-two minutes to edit/produce one minute of audio for a video. Or about three and a half hours just to go through all the various takes and produce a ten minute audio track.

That's not a complaint, by the way! I'm just pointing out my own quirks relating to quality and the work I put in to meet that standard.

And, yes! The audio you see/hear will appear exactly as you see/hear in the forthcoming Valeria Richards video. Which I suppose I should get back to...
