Q & A Time!

Alright, for those that would like to contribute to a Question & Answer video or livestream (I haven't decided which yet; my free time might decide for me) please post your questions to this thread!

A few guidelines, if you will:

1. Pretty much everything is fair game. Of course, I'm probably going to give misleading answers to overly personal questions. You know, like my address or phone number. Otherwise, ask what you like.

2. The answer to the question, "Will you ever do a video about [insert series]?" is almost always, "Yes." Everything is a possible topic for a future video.

3. There's a video about what got me into comics. So, don't ask about that.

4. Maybe limit yourself to a few questions. Otherwise, I might have choose a few to answer if you ask, like, 5 or 6. That would be great.

And...that's it! Shoot away.

Comments

I guess I should make a post here and say this round of Q's looking for A's is officially closed. :)

What non Vertigo 90s comics series or established title runs would you recommend reading?

LS Greger

Any thoughts on the new Unstoppable Doom Patrol..?

Pete Teece

Have you ever read the 80s B&W series Adventurers or The Realm?

Brian Deaton

Do you think that YA comics is more the future of the medium and that single issues would go out of fashion?

Sebastian Castellanos

1) Will you be continuing your Events series or has that concluded? DC's event cycle from the lead-up to Infinite Crisis through Flashpoint is pretty interesting. 2) Have you paid any attention at all to Geoff Johns' post-Doomsday Clock DC work? I'm getting a really bitter vibe from the whole thing. 3) Did you manage to stick with X-Men in any way following House of X? 4) Any plans to cover the Simonson Thor run?

DVE

Will you be doing a video on any of the Doom Patrol series post Rachel Pollack? The series written by John Arcudi, the John Byrne series, the Keith Giffen series and the Gerard Way series?

Super Vader

I wonder if you return to specific comics/ stories at different points in life? For example I return to some of the Sandman stories- there are aspects about change in them that resonate with me, and sometimes help move me on. Maybe you’ve spoken about this at some point, but do you have a huge collection, or do you read digital comics? I like paper! Did you ever write to a letter column in a comic?

Philip Mackinnon

Comics stories used to be told in monthly issues with long gestating subplots and what appeared to be no one all encompasing storyline. Today they are mostly told in segmented chapters intended to be collected into larger volumes containing one complete story. In your opinion, which format is superior? How do you prefer to read comics, monthly issues or complete stories?

Christopher Ulichney

1. What was it like to experience the start of the modern age? Baby Boomers all seem to remember where they were when they heard Kennedy was assassinated or the Beatles played on Sullivan. I can only guess that, as a comic reader, picking up Dark Night Returns or an issue of Watchmen had a similar, though maybe not as immediate effect. 2. What was happening culturally that made Vertigo such a flash point? And was it poor leadership that lead to its downfall? 3. Piggybacking off the previous question, are there any authors or publishers you feel are pushing things in a similar direction now?

DonutFists

A few from me, pick away as you choose: 1. Can you just switch off and just read comics for fun, or do you always approach them with an analytical eye since starting the podcast? 2. Has doing the podcast changed the way you read comics in any other ways? 3. You've mentioned Judge Dredd before in a QnA but have you read any 2000ad beyond that. Tharg's kingdom is a rich and fertile land of great comica.

Colin Taylor

You have not kept away from covering controversial comic creators, so, what is your opinion on Chuck Austen? Do you find any redeeming qualities in his work? Thanks for doing what you do.

Christopher Ulichney

What are you opinions on crowdfunded comics? How do you think such crowdfunding changes the traditional one-man comapnies or small publishers?

John Gaunt

Censorship in comics in the USA is well documented. I am curious if there is any Canadian Censorship in comics that we Americans may not be familiar with.

E E Edward E

I was curious on your thoughts on grant Morrisons writing style. I personally think he is my favorite comic writer but I have a hard time finding flaws or imperfections with his stories (or at least his more modern works like his Xmen run and All Star Superman)

Zach Klinefelter

I'd like to see a mention of "DESTROY!!! The Loudest Comic Book In The Universe!!!" From Scott McCloud, the guy who wrote "Understanding Comics", this was a one-shot black-and-white comic full of nothing but full sized single-panel pages. The story consisted of two costumed muscle-bound characters beating the crap out of each other and destroying the entire city around them. It was a one-joke satire or parody of superheroes; but I think it was a good joke and it worked okay, as a one-shot single issue comic.

Cast Iron Chaos

1. General thoughts on From Hell 2. Gilbert or Jaime, you can love/hate both, but Gun to your head you like or prefer one more 3. How did Jeph Loeb, who is terrible, pull off Superman for All Seasons? 4. Any thoughts on Paul Pope? 5. Have you read Ultra Mega? If not why not gosh darnit? Love the channel and thank you for your wonderful work!

Brad Elmore

Since this just happened yesterday, what are your thoughts on Bill Willingham putting the Fables IP into the Public Domain? Link if needed: https://billwillingham.substack.com/p/willingham-sends-fables-into-the What do you think the possible ramifications will be? And what property would you like to see go into the Public Domain?

Alex Hunter

Have you ever thought of reviewing manga?

Other guy

Secret comics cabal president Geare has two questions. 1. You can trade one hero from Dc to marvel and vice versa. What two heroes are switching places? 2. Your local Secret Comics Cabal is forced to silence dissenters who think Stan Lee created Batman. How much did you see and why is it nothing?

Geare Bauchs

Okay so: 1. Do you have any comic YouTube / podcast that you really admire? 2. What’s your most controversial opinion? 3. What series do you absolutely hate? Like loathe with a burning passion.

Drspiderface

If you could supervise a new edition - design, format, etc - for any out of print series, what would it be, and how would you do it up?

Alex Kennedy

Did you ever read Black Monday Murders? Getting into that reminded me how I discovered all my favorite writers from supernatural horror books.
