Hello and welcome (and what's next)

Hello to all you early, Day One patrons. First and foremost, thank you for your support! You are all very awesome and I cannot overstate how much I appreciate your patronage. I'm hoping I make it worthwhile for you.

Always feel free to message me directly if you have any questions. I intend to be very accessible on this platform (much more so than on YouTube or Twitter) and, quite possibly in a week or so, I'll probably do a Patreon only Q & A. I'll make a post when it's time.

So, to keep you in the loop, this week's video will be about Black Label series' from 2020. The first video seems to be doing well and most people want to see it continue as a series.

At this point I'm finishing up the script. The bit about Rorschach is not as coherent as I like, so that's what's holding me up. But I can start on the narration and edit the video together while I work out the rough bits of that part.

That's about it. That's where all my free time this week is going to be spent. There might be a few sleepless nights as I scramble to get it ready for Friday. But I hope it's worth it in the end.

Until next time...

I had to add into the fact that The Question may have a nostalgia factor that might only appeal to a select group. Whereas the Three Jokers had broader appeal. And it's not terrible. It just terrible as a Killing Joke sequel.

Allan Hatt

I gotta say I'm surprised you put Three Jokers above The Question. You definitely seemed to like The Question more. The Question is a good Denny O'Neill homage versus Three Jokers' bad Alan Moore pastiche.

First off thank you for finally making a Patreon! I've wanted to support the channel since I first encountered it a year or so ago but wasn't familiar with the other avenues you were using for supporting the channel. I also thought Rorschach was brilliant and disturbing. I loved how it weaved in real comics history with Binder, Miller, and Ditko. King mentioned in an interview he was using Watchmen as a language to talk about whats going on in our world now. That approach to me is the respectful way to continue on with what Moore Gibbons, and Higgins created. Needless to say I'd love to see your analysis of that book in a full video.

Kirk Ireland

I will probably continue with Black Label until I'm current. Unless the next video tanks...then I might have to pivot. Ha ha ha.

Allan Hatt

Thank you very much, Jonny. I'm glad my approach and suggestions work out for you! And, for the record, every little bit helps this channel become less and less dependent on the YouTube ecosphere. So, thank you for that.

Allan Hatt

Cheers Allan! Green Hell would be cool, too, if you keep going the Black Label route.

Jonny Lim

Welcome and thanks for the support! I will see what I can do about your suggestions.

Allan Hatt

Also to add, I don't think I've ever bought any books after having heard about them from any other channel on YouTube but yours. Not even Cartoonist Kayfabe! It's because of your serious approach to comics analysis that I even bother looking at the books you discuss, so for that alone your channel is much appreciated. My wallet may not be so grateful, but my collection sure is lol

Holy smokes, I'm a day oner! (Oneder? 1der? That Thing You Doer?) And with only two hours left to spare. Really dug the Black Label video; definitely gonna check out that Wonder Woman title, mainly for the artwork. Having just finished Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise, I'd maybe one day like to see a video on Tradd Moore maybe perhaps in the vague future? That'd be neat. Anyway, thanks! Your "Until next time" may be my favourite sign-off on YouTube. So chill.

Jonny Lim

It's definitely something that needs a closer examination. Like with Strange Adventures, I hit the major points and give my impression. They're both good and probably eat up a good portion of the 2020 video. :)

Allan Hatt

Very excited to hear your thoughts on Rorschach. There seems to be a lot that can be dissected amd interpreted with that series. (I enjoyed it, but I am well aware it is not for everyone)

Brandon Flick

I am fine, thank you. I hope you're also doing well!

Allan Hatt

Excited for the episode! Hope you’re doing well!
