UNCUT/EARLY ACCESS: ONE PIECE EP612-613

Zoro was also shown "mercy" by someone much stronger than him very early in the story. I think that might also have something to do with his actions here as well.

i think the idea that he sees women as lesser isnt exactly true, but he also doesnt see them as true equals. Kuina died despairing at the idea of losing to a man simply because hes a man. Zoro knows that he can beat them and its not because hes a man, hes just stronger, but to him (at least imo) its like hes viewing every woman as kuina. as if theyre all struggling to come to terms with their inferiority complex stemming from their gender, a very telling scene for me was back in skypiea when enel blasts robin with lightning and zoro gets mad and says "shes a woman." in his mind enel should have gone easy on robin because she was a woman, not because she was so much weaker than him since he didnt say anything about enel going overboard against wyper. sanji and zoro both believe that women should be protected the difference is sanji is in love with all women and thinks they shouldnt be put in harms way ever, while zoro is willing to fight a woman but only to a certain point which is usually where he thinks they wont despair at "a womans fate" like kuina did. all this to say, he kinda sees all women as kuina.

Zoro's last conversation with Kuina was that he wanted to overcome her because she was an obstacle towards become the greatest swordsman. To him it gender doesn't matter, only your strength and skill with the sword. He's also honorable and won't needlessly kill.

Zoro’s reason for not wanting to kill her is because of his honor. It doesn’t matter what gender the opponent is, if they are significantly weaker than him and he knows that then of course he would go easy on them. He’s not a wild animal… even though he referenced himself as one 😂. Tashigi just makes the assumption that he won’t hurt/kill a woman because of her past experiences maybe. At least that’s what I think.
