Minecraft Style 3D Item

Minecraft Style 3D Item

You ever look at a Minecraft item and think:
"Wow, you’re flat. You deserve better."

Well now you can give your favorite 16×16 textures the glow-up they’ve always dreamed of — turning pixel art into a punchy 3D illusion with no shaders, no modeling, no complicated materials, and no spiritual sacrifices to the mesh gods.

This was made by me, in Blender, tested deeply in Unity 2022.3.22f1 (VRChat-approved), and poked a bit in Blender too — it works beautifully. And in theory, it should run smoothly in any 3D software that supports alpha cutout materials, textured meshes, and a bit of pixel respect.

Most of the magic happens when the mesh geometry meets the alpha cutout texture. That’s where the illusion kicks in. If your material supports cutout, you’ll see instant 3D depth with pixel-perfect holes.

I was trying to test an udon script That supposed to allow me to cycle through disks as you can see in the gifs below and it seems to work perfectly fine I even managed to make a nice cute little jukebox that actually plays sound and I have to specify this again the jukebox is not included with this item What you get in this package is the bare necessity for you to start adding your own 16x16 And slightly lower resolution than that into whatever 3D software and orgame engine (hypothetically) So let's see what we have here shall we

🧰 Key Features:

  • Works with any 2D 16×16 texture (Minecraft-style or otherwise)
  • Also compatible with: 2×2, 4×4, 8×8 pixel textures — for ultra lo-fi wizards
  • Doesn’t require transparency, but it really shines with alpha cutout
  • Fully supports UV scrolling animations (just make sure to snap to whole pixels)
  • I do have to warn you though that I didn't test it fully the animation section of this model but if these gives that I provided you with is any indication that they semi doable if not compatible if not even exceeding their potential then yepyy
  • Add emission, normals, metallic, scrolling, or whatever else your engine allows, Most if not all of the important bits are in the mesh itself mixed with the textures so you could use standard unity shading or any other one, kind of the other ones
  • Designed for VRChat, works in Unity, Blender, Godot, Unreal, and probably your fridge

🧠 Animated Texture Warning:
If you scroll your texture using UV tiling or offset, make sure each step matches a pixel — don’t slide through decimal chaos.
Think 0.0625 per step, not 0.00024 or “close enough.” If it looks like melting cheese, you’ve gone too far.

📌 Also!
If you’re planning to animate your texture (left, right, up, down, etc.), set its Wrap Mode to "Repeat" in the texture's import settings.
If you don’t, Unity will try to stretch that pixel like it’s taffy, and the whole mesh will look glitched or smeared.

As I said before it should be fine with udon Scripts trying to animate a Sprite just play with the textures settings to make sure that everything is in order

🧩 Unity Integration (Tested on Unity 2022.3.22f1):
Works perfectly as a VRChat-ready prefab, or in any Unity project.

✔ The prefab includes:

  • The mesh
  • A working material
  • A sample folder for texture
  • Pre-scaled and pre-aligned like in minecraft (i think) but you can scale it to any shape and size

⚙️ If you're adding your own texture (or someone else’s):

  • Texture Type: Sprite (2D and UI)
  • Filter Mode: Point (No Filter)
  • Compression: None
  • As I said before just go to the texture settings and probably some research one heart
  • Max Size: Doesn’t matter — Unity won’t let you go below 32 anyway
  • ☑️ Alpha Is Transparency: Check this if your texture has transparent parts

👀 IMPORTANT:
This applies to any texture, not just ones you made.
If you’re using pre-existing, downloaded, or copyright-free textures — you still need to check those import settings. Otherwise, things will look blurry, distorted, stretched, or like someone microwaved your sprite.

😮‍💨 If the prefab shows up pink, invisible, or haunted:

  • Drag the .fbx directly into your hierarchy or 3D scene
  • Reassign the texture in the material or just create a new material, unity just acts weird sometime
  • If Unity forgot where the texture is, just point it to the right PNG and take a deep breath — it’s not cursed, it’s just Unity

🛠️ Mesh Stats:

  • 264 vertices
  • 264 edges
  • 132 triangles
  • One object
  • One material (cutout-ready)

🔍 The 3D look comes entirely from how the texture’s alpha interacts with the geometry. It’s simple, fast, and super reusable.

📁 Download Includes:

  • One .fbx file (should work in Unity, Blender, Godot, Unreal, etc.)
  • One . prefab
  • One material
  • A folder of 16×16 Minecraft-style demo textures (for testing only)

🧑‍🏫 TL;DR:
Drag it in, and it’ll likely “just work.”
If it doesn’t:

  • Drop the .fbx manually
  • Use your own material or fix the texture
  • Remember Unity just sometimes acts up so no need to panic
  • If the material is pink, Unity lost the connection — just reassign it

🔓 License & Usage:

  • ✅ The mesh was handcrafted by me in Blender, and you are free to use it in:
    • Games, mods, machinima, VRChat worlds
    • Educational demos, web animations, pixel-themed horror films
    • Indie games, party favors, awkward NFT pitches (don’t, though)
    • Pixel weddings 💍 and cursed birthday parties 🎉
  • 🧩 You may use, edit, share, remix, or commercialize the mesh itself in any legal way you want
  • 🟨 Textures included are for demo only
    • Based on Minecraft-style art — not licensed for resale or commercial use
    • Don’t use them in your Steam game and act shocked when Microsoft calls
    • And if you're from Microsoft or Mojang: I’m joking. Really. Tell Phil Spencer I said hi.
  • 🎨 If you're using your own texture:
    • Awesome! You’re fully in the clear
    • Just don't use pirated Photoshop or a cracked editor — free tools exist and they won’t rat you out to the FBI
  • 💡 Found a texture online?
    • Make sure it’s copyright-free or that you’re allowed to use it
    • The law still applies, even to pixel art

🧩 Your own texture + this mesh = 100% commercial freedom, as long as you’re not breaking any laws

What you CAN’T do:

  • Repackage this as-is and sell it
  • Upload it to a marketplace and say you made it
  • Rename it “SuperVoxelPro v9” and ask $10 for it

💢 If you do that…
I will appear, smiling politely 😇...
and gently but firmly slap your 🍑 bum bum.

Be cool. Create stuff. Don’t be a pixel thief.

Enjoyed this? Want to fuel more pixel-powered projects?
If this mesh helped you, made your workflow smoother, or just made you smile — consider buying me a coffee! Totally optional, but always appreciated 💛
