Tom, As always, I am behind on my podcasts and just listened to this Editor's Desk. I'm so sorry for your pain and hardships this year. Thank you so much for sharing and continuing to do such excellent work through all of it. I can certainly sympathize with being happy for this arbitrary clean start that is the new year. In March, while we were out of town for my Grandpa's 95th birthday, my MIL was watching our dogs and ended up in the hospital. Her neighbor said she could watch them until we could get back. But our Maltese Kaida "escaped." We use quotes because I'm convinced she stole here. My mother-in-law never really came home, and she passed at the beginning of July. A month later, my 95-year-old Grandpa passed. While my parents were making arrangements for his services, we found out my other dog, Peaches, was riddled with Cancer. Another month later, she passed overnight on our first night back from my Grandpa's funeral. Fast forward to just a couple of weeks ago, and my mother-in-law's dog Riley died of kidney failure. We had taken her in when my MIL passed, and it hit a lot harder than I expected. As you said, it's not a competition, but I truly understand how it feels and how wonderful it will be to say goodbye to 2023. I hope you have a merry Christmas and that your 2024 is much better.

Thank you very much for sharing this personal look back at 2023, it does really put things in perspective. It helped me understand a little better the hardships you encountered, but also just how much of a success DTNS really is! I noticed the show getting even more fine tuned and how some co-hosts took even more space and responsibilities (Robb is great!). I'm loving it even more and I'm very happy to support such a worthy endeavour. Wish you a better 2024, Tom. Cheers!

Thank you, for the honesty & openness of both the business/show side of things, as well as the personal side of things for you & yours. It's been many years now, but I still remember the sting of cancer taking my dog. She was the first life I felt really responsible for & even was around for the first few years of my son's life. It's something I keep in mind, as I begin the process of finding a service dog for my son. Thank you for everything & looking forward to the next year!
