Some people wonder why Charlie had to die there. Why didn't he run out of the room? I can't say this for sure, but I think that door could only be sealed from the inside of the room, and he needed to seal that room so the rest of the station was not flooded so Desmond could get out. They also wonder why he didn't swim out the window, and I think it looked bigger then it actually was.
