It is SO odd specifically for the show bc existing fans will simultaneously complain about how AMC does such a shit job at promoting the show and they wish so badly that people knew about it more, then sabotage the fandom growing…this happened w people who were recommended from Heated Rivalry. 2026-02-15 21:00:20 +0000 UTCi just wanna say that this series has a massive cult following, both from the books, the first of which turns 50 this year, and from the 1994 movie adaptation of the same story, which means that the fans are very opinionated, which makes them act out in silly and peculiar ways when it comes to new people without all the years of accumulated knowledge watching it for the first time. all of which is to say that i would avoid delving into youtube comments whenever you start posting it there, unless you guys have really good mods or something. there's overt spoilers, "hints" at future events (which are just spoilers for people with an above-elementary-school deductive reasoning), people criticizing you for the opinions you're forming when you don't have the full scope of information and they obviously do, and also people forgetting which things are obvious to a first-time watcher and which things you only realize in retrospect after finishing both seasons. and i've seen all of this happen to like every channel who watched this show while trying to interact with their youtube audience at the same time. the show is great and i love it so so much, so just be warned for the future, cause i hate seeing this happen to people having fun with it for the first time. i wouldn't even fully trust us on patreon here tbh, though people have been good so far

2026-02-15 08:25:38 +0000 UTCwhen it comes to vampirism and violence, they kinda come in a package, it's not really just a lestat thing (although you're right that he's a man that cares about aesthetics), it's just merely the nature of being a vampire. the reason why lestat and louis struggled to be on the same wavelength is because in lestat's eyes, louis was kind of a defected vampire, the bird not wanting to fly or fish not wanting to swim wasn't a metaphor for veganism, which is possible for both vampires and humans, no he literally meant it's like a human refusing to walk despite having perfectly healthy legs, they're just that intertwined so it's that absurd to see someone refuse to do something he's supposed to. on the contrary, in louis' eyes, lestat seemed like he was being cruel & merciless, which would be true from a human's pov but like i mentioned in a previous comment, when you turn into a vampire you lose all sense of morality so killing shouldn't really matter to him anymore, that's why lestat was confused but patiently waiting for louis to accept the "gift". not to mention that louis is a hypocrite, and it usually slips by people because lestat is a proud killer but for someone who preaches about murder being too cruel, louis killed a man before solely for disrespecting him, killed the guy in this episode for also being disrespectful and shutting down his business and put him on display, got mad at lestat for not killing and burning antoinette, and is generally okay with lestat killing people to feed on them, so yeah not exactly innocent either, especially when you remember that he's an unreliable narrator which will come into play later. also i'm surprised you guys haven't seen the og movie! i've watched a lot of iwtv reactions and by this point when people hear the name claudia they all recognize her from the movie, but i guess it's good that this is a totally blind reaction, i'm excited for you guys to meet my second favorite character ever from this series <3
