Early Info!
Added 2014-02-02 04:16:05 +0000 UTCSo it's month one and if you haven't seen the Patreon man come by and collect yet, you will soon. THANK YOU. As promised here's a little inside info into what we're planning for the show. Jennie and I exchanged some emails today about initial ways to upgrade the production and some philosophy of the show. Here's the executive summary, for you, our executives. PRIORITY ONE - Content Everything we do should be driven by the quality of the content. Every addition to the show, from lighting, to motion graphics, to the audio quality, to guest bookings, to every headline we choose to write; all of it should answer 'yes' to the question "Does this make the content better? DTNS content should inform, make the information useful, and put it in context. GUESTS We identified 4 types of guests we want to book Regulars - the kind you're seeing now Field Experts - The folks who work in industries and can explain complex issues. This also includes some pundits and columnists who we think are really smart. Segment experts - Mostly beat reporters who can talk about the story that broke that day Related fields - Folks who are smart and expert in a field not inside tech but that can illuminate it. AUDIENCE We LOVE the audience feedback. We want to make it even easier to contribute to the show. We want to make it easy for us to select good stuff to put in the show. And we want to create better guidelines for folks who want to go above and beyond and contribute their own reports and segments like we had on the listener shows earlier this month. REPORTS In addition to audience contributions we're kicking around the idea of getting regular segments from correspondents. I've had the idea for a weekly esports update for awhile for instance. So maybe more like that. AUDIO We're going to tackle the levels and the quality and make sure we get a good crisp audio version every time. That's really the main goal of the 'upgrade' level to be honest. And that's a peek at what we're thinking. Of course there's a whole lot more, but that's the stuff we talked about today! Thanks again for supporting the show and spreading the word to others. We can't say thank you enough. Tom

Chase, you can download the current video and there's even a guerilla video podcast feed out there. But yes, eventually we hope to have cleanly produced video as well.

2014-02-02 18:31:04 +0000 UTCGood luck Tom! Great plan! One of the things that drew me to BOL as well as even TNT, was the comradery between the hosts (yes, I am a 'Tom & Molly' fan)! A co-host to banter the stories back and forth with would be great!!! However, what is pushing me away from TNT is cutting away to THREE field or segment experts "in 30 min or less"!! This leaves no thoughtful analysis from the host(s)! Please do not go down that path!! LOVE THE SHOW, Tom! Keep up the great work! I am honored to be a Patreon! Sandy Pilares
