Behind the Scenes #40

What up, mini family?! This past week was my first week as a full time youtuber and it was a strange one because I didn't do any sort of filming or editing at all, it was all painting minis!! As some of you may know, this past Saturday we recorded the first episode of Kill Your Friends. You know...the thing I promised as a goal on patreon back when I started this shindig?! Well, I had a few minis on my team left to paint. 

I had a decent chunk of my team already painted, but the ones that I wanted to use against Jon's team were all unpainted, so I painted up these 5 guys during the week.

There's the almost full team! If I wanted to be hardcore, I'd need to paint Veteran Graves, and the new captain Mourn, but this feels pretty good. Next, I wanted to make some custom mortician (the name of my team) terrain, so I scratch built these puppies! 

I whipped up 1 "fast ground" and 3 obstacles. I also made a custom mortician goal! Then, it was finally time. Jon and his buddy Josh (our sound guy) showed up the Friday before to get a little practice in.

Jon won this practice round with a very commanding 12-4, which puts our record at 1-1. I learned a very valuable lesson playing against his team in this practice match. So, we went to sleep and had dreams of crushing each other the next day.

We shot the game with 4 cameras, 2 close ups, 1 wide, and an overhead shot of the game. It went on for a long 5 rounds which will make editing...interesting...(what I mean is it'll be a PITA). In the end I was able to win 12-8 and we learned a lot of valuable lessons for future episodes of this series. 

Here's the crew for that day. Jon and I, Josh on audio, Alex on video, and Ryan making sure we weren't breaking any rules. It was a fun, but very exhausting day. That's all for now, team, don't forget to PAINT MORE MINIS!
