Behind the Scenes #21
Added 2019-01-18 16:41:02 +0000 UTCWhat up mini family!?
This week was a little bit busy. First off, I did another 'Eavy Metal Marines episode, as I'm sure you're all aware of by this point.

It was a Black Legion Chaos Spacemarine. I felt this was a pretty hot topic legion at the moment because Chaos Spacemarines are probably going to get an update soon, and I'm hazarding a guess that they will be mostly Black Legion marines given the few releases GW has put out. Also, this is mildly trending because it's a Black Stone Fortress miniature. Hopefully it'll do well! A pretty good question would be "Scott, you just said you couldn't pull this off in a week, did you lie to me, you douche?" Not entirely. I was about 1.5 weeks ahead of my schedule when I started this, so I had a week and a half to work on it. Additionally, I've been home sick from work 3 days this week and worked on the marine/edit for a few hours each of those days so I had some bonus time! Honestly, if I had not been sick, I would not have finished this video for today's early release, haha.
Additionally, this month I was a guest on a podcast called "Forge the Narrative". I have a lot of fun doing podcasts and this was only my 2nd one. You can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NOFkDmswjE&t=478
This week I also met with someone who works at Patreon to get some feedback on my page and we had a very informative hour long conversation. If I could distill all the information that she gave me, it was essentially: "be more transparent with your viewers on what you're trying to do". I don't think she meant specifically in regards to miniature painting, but in regards to my career goals with youtube as a whole. I made that one video at the end of 2018 where I read funny comments, answered questions, etc. In that video I talked about my "9 month sprint" and that my intentions were to become a full time youtuber. I went to bed that Friday and to me, that video was a throw-away video. But I woke up and had gained like 10 patrons, and sold a ton of shirts and it was kind of a wake up call. I'm not being a hero by trying to keep from my patrons what I'm trying to do. Don't get me wrong, there's a certain way to talk about your business plan w/o sounding like you're begging for supporters. So, I'm going to start to be more transparent about I'm wanting to do, essentially the ideas that are eating me alive that I can't yet do. I look forward to the future!
PAINT MORE MINIS!

Hey Robert, thanks for asking. I'm really going to know how much I need to earn per month this February when I do my taxes and see what kind of % the US govt takes from "small businesses". I think when I understand that better, then I'll know what I need to earn to not impact my family. To answer your 2nd question: how can you guys help attain them, I never know how to answer this question in a helpful way. Sharing the videos with your friends, liking it, etc. helps as far as I know. You're already giving me money, so there isn't much more you can do!
2019-01-21 18:51:44 +0000 UTCIn the spirit of being more transparent with your fans, how are we looking for your goals? How can we, as your fans, help you attain them? More feedback, help in specific areas, or anything else? This hobby has a great community, don’t be afraid to use it.
