Tyrion never did it to Joffrey, and he didn't do it for Daenerys until he truly felt she was worthy of his devotion. Daenerys also begged Jon to bend the knee many over and over. But when Dany stopped asking and started showing Jon her worth, Jon recognized it and offered his allegiance. On a similar note, had Jon talked about his death and resurrection, Daenerys might have brushed it off. But when he refused to talk about it and Dany saw his scars, she completely believed in him. The lesson: if you want the allegiance of others, don't demand it, but be awesome and earn their devotion.
