BABYMETAL - LEGEND S ( Reaction

Comments

I would add, that during the woah's with the ONE during RoR, towards the end of that section Su and Moa stopped singing and vocals (on back track for maybe 10 seconds or so) sounded like Yui and Moa together. It felt like tribute or tip of the cap to Yui who couldn't be there. Had a tear slip and got emotional. Certainly wasn't the first or only time during the show.

Don't have much to add from what has already been said... That 7th song was Syncopation from the Japanese version of the Metal Resistance album. For some reason Amuse/Koba refuses to release it to the west. It is in fact my favorite Babymetal song and my favorite song overall :)

Hey hey! I know I’m a bit late with this comment, but I would suggest more concert reactions vs album reactions. We all know they are much better live, and they only have 1 original song that has never been played live. Tokyo Dome Red Night and Black Night, will cover all songs from 1st 2 albums, except From Dusk Till Dawn, which I believe you already reacted to. Then, Legend Metal Galaxy Day 1 and 2 will cover their 3rd album. And of course, you’ve already done Babymetal Begins both nights, which covers their 4th album. There are a few other songs (covers, collabs, etc.) and other gem videos out there afterwards (fan clips of stage antics, interviews, misc., etc), as well, along with remainder of the concerts which are all epic as well. Finally, if you want to go super deep in the fox hole, there is always Sakura Gakuin, the idol group that Babymetal came from, so to speak. Enjoy!

the melody u liked on the piano is a unreleased song at the time called Shine

And Shine with Moa playing acoustic guitar

My favorite Babymetal song is Akatsuki u should react to this song on your channel but an earlier version.

So nice to watch this concert again and with you, thank you man! So, I don't know if you were updated on the meanings of this concert, but it was certainly one of the most impactful for babymetal. firstly because it was the special 20th anniversary concert of Su-metal, our queen! and it was held in Hiroshima, her hometown! We had high expectations at the time and they were certainly exceeded! This was also the first show without Yuimetal, and we never saw her again after that. The news that she wouldn't be in the show was kind of last minute but I feel like the audience interacted even more by singing her parts. well, the intro was AMAZING and this song "In the Name of" hadn't been released yet so it was a really wonderful surprise, with all the foxes and costumes… in the solo song "Akatsuki" Su fights with another woman, that woman represents herself, she is wearing the clothes that Su already wore in the past when she was younger, it has a meaning but it was incredible to see this innovation of her fighting with herself kind of from the past. In headbanger, the lyrics of the song say "this special night of my fifteen" and in this special 20th birthday show, she changed the lyrics for the first time and sang "this special night of my twenties". In the song "death" she was crucified (once again) and it kinda was another direct reference to her crucifixion when she was 15 too. The song "no rain no rainbow" is also very special and very deep but I won't say much other than the greatness of her performing this song in this show, I had never seen her carry so much emotion in her voice and at one point we can even see tears in her eyes. at the end before "the one" we can hear a bit of the songs "starlight" and "shine" on the piano, songs that had not been officially released either at the time and it was simply a warm feeling in the heart. although the stage was a little empty without the three members, it was an incredible and very special show for Sumetal! thanks for the reaction!🦊❀️ If I could recommend a next concert to watch, I would definitely say Tokyo dome, both nights in order because they didn't repeat any songs in these two shows and presented their complete discography up until that year (2016, minus the song 'from dusk till dawn', which you've already heard) and we have the first and only performance of the song "Tales of the destines". 🫢

Agree with you 100%. Watching Moa do GJ alone tore me up. Been a Babymetal fan since 2014.

Watching this gives me so many mixed emotions. During that intro, I keep shaking my head about the fact that such a (on a global scale) tiny band from Japan brings us such an amazing show that rivals even the hardest competition. It must have been such a disappointment for Koba, when he had all this planned out and then learned that Yui wouldn't be able to participate. But in a way (please forgive me for this) they were lucky, because had Yui been there, this show would have been impossible to surpass. Then there are moments like in "Ijime, Dame, Zettai", when it's so sad to see Moa doing the fight scene on her own, but keeping up the spirit and still wearing the big smile, all for us. Then "GJ!" (the Moa solo you were wondering about). She absolutely nailed it, but it's a song she had usually performed as a duo with Yui, so it leaves a bitter taste nevertheless. Then Su in "No Rain, no Rainbow", giving us the most emotional performance I have ever seen from her. It's all so awesome and so sad at the same time. But I guess for someone who isn't aware of all of that, it's just a fantastic show. And that it is. I'm happy about your kind words after Syncopation. I can only agree. Many people don't like BABYMETAL, and that's fine. But anyone with only a minimal sense of quality must notice how good this is technically. Not to hit on other bands, but many bands are basically a handful of people standing on the stage playing a song on their instruments, and that's fine. But this show here has so many additional facets, the dancing, the stage design, the crowd participation, the lighting, the interludes, down to the friggin' lit mask on every single audience member's head, and I'll even put the girl's uplifting smiles on the list... every single one of these elements is on an the highest level in its respective field. That's something that's hard to find anywhere on the planet across all genres. It still baffles me after years of being a fan. I had to laugh when you did the palm mute guitar motion during the riff in Karate, because I did the same. I guess guitarists can't resist. :-) BTW, did you notice that the music during the picture story that preceded "The One" was the melody that we would later get to know as the song "Shine"?

John, what a great reaction. I think this concert elevated Babymetal to being the best live performance band in the world, due to the production values of their Japanese concerts. I have this concert on Blu-Ray and it looks so wild on my 83" OLED. I swear I am going to wear the disc out. The album reactions are a good idea, just watch out for differences on some of the Japanese releases and the international releases.

LMG 2021 day 1 and day 2 should great next

Starlight

Agreed! All of these 2-nights shows are definitely best enjoyed by watching both parts in order. So if either Legend Metal Galaxy or BABYMETAL Begins were next, I would suggest doing both nights and in order (Light Force -> Dark Force and Black Night -> Clear Night). And for Tokyo Dome it would be Red Night -> Black Night. I also agree that the CrypticMisery and Omajination guides would be good to watch. If you do album reactions my suggestion would be just doing them in order BABYMETAL -> Metal Resistance -> Metal Galaxy -> The Other One.

Jimmy Pullano

You should definitely do one of the guides. And yes Tokyo Dome and Begins (Black Night/Clear Night) would also be great as would Legend Metal Galaxy (Light Force/Dark Force)

Jim Nusbaum

Great content, thanks for this! Very much looking forward to the next concert reaction (and the one after that...)!
