Honestly I haven't been able to find a good quality of the Broadway musical so if that one does win PLEASE let me know where to find a good quality video!

A little late to comment this i suggest you react to the full movie then you can react to the obc cast recordings if you still are interested in hearing them

2023-01-10 03:35:37 +0000 UTCI will say movie vs. theatre productions of In The Heights - they offer two different stories that are both equally gorgeous. Nothing will beat the production in my eyes (my first ever live musical), but the movie does a great job at adapting and bringing the story forward to a more modern setting. Unfortunately, this means tweaking some very important plot lines, getting rid of characters, adding other ones, and cutting several songs. Despite all of that, I was genuinely surprised at how gorgeous the movie was and how much I enjoyed myself - and I think that's because at its heart, In The Heights is a gorgeous depiction of a struggling minority, and that message will never change!

2022-12-28 11:34:41 +0000 UTCif you're not used to bootlegs (aka "slime tutorials"), it can be a bit jarring at the low quality. Often shit sound, shaky camera, and strange zooms - HOWEVER, it is an absolute treat to see og broadway in its purest form. I'd suggest the movie version, but if you ever want to go in the deep end of musical theatre and start watching bootlegs, in the heights is absolutely gorgeous on stage.

I genuinely love the movie, and I think you’ll get more out of it watching the show that way. Same goes for Les Mis, in my opinion.

2022-12-27 05:46:51 +0000 UTCI'm not goona lie, it hurts me a little telling you to watch the movie when every time i see a reaction to it i get sad wishing someone would watch the stage version with the original cast because i love it so much, but i genuinely think you'll get more out of watching the movie

2022-12-27 05:44:47 +0000 UTCDefine "good quality"? lol As someone who is used to watching bootlegs, the OBC In The Heights one really isn't that bad, but i think for you that is not used to musical, much less bootlegs, it's not a good idea to go that way. I've loved the stage version for a long time and generally i do prefer it, but the movie is also great and still carries the message very well. You can find good recording of stage versions, but it's not the Broadway one, and i can't speak for their quality as I've never seen them. Personally I'd recommend doing the movie and then maybe doing the cut songs if you're interested, also I'm sure everyone would make you aware of all the changes and differences between the two :) Edit: also bootlegs (recording of a live show) is illegal, so idk how you'd feel about that lmao
