American Hustle Life!!!

I am so stoked for this show, I know there is some controversy with this show but I feel like this series was a massive part in the early years of BTS and without this experience, who knows what they would be like now.

Who’s looking forward to this and will this be anyone else’s first time watching?!

I think there are definitely 'cringy' parts, but in general, I really like American Hustle Life. There are great moments, they made great friendships, and they have spoken well of their time on it even years later. I know many people think it's 'disrespectful', but I think that comes from people who don't really know much about hiphop culture. I think think a lot of people misinterpret this as being about 'black culture', when it very much is not. It is about HIPHOP culture and the history of hiphop. Parts definitely overlap but these are actual people in the culture talking about it. If it was random people, I would understand people getting upset over it, but it is people within the culture, some legends even, and I really respect BigHit for making BTS learn from people in the culture, not by people who think they know it.

I recently watched the entire series again, although I admit did fast forward through maybe 10 minutes of the 1st episode - the cringey, upsetting part you’ve heard about. The series definitely gets better. Episodes 3 & 6 are my faves. Their interactions with the R & B teacher/mentor in Episode 6 is particularly heartwarming. Plus she’s an amazing singer herself!

Karen O'Halloran

I started it and gave up because I could not handle the cringe and the frustration. I might give it another shot since I will not be "watching alone" in a way 😅 reaction videos always make me feel less lonely when I watch something 🤷🏻‍♀️

Black capped chickadee

I will join with episode 2. The first episode pisses me off so bad I can't watch it.

Lisa M T

I saw snippets of it only but I know the history of it and how cringy it can be but I'm ready to watch it fully with you for the first time!!!

Auntie Cat

I’m really excited to watch it and learn another chapter of there lives 💜💜💜

John Reaves

Heck yes I love the honesty! I haven’t seen it yet but from what I’ve heard there’s a ton of cringe! Just want to see the full journey they’ve been through!

John Reaves

Agreed!! Can’t see it without my mama’s eyes, and I get upset!

TSO 아포방포

All pressure is not created equal. I don’t think they needed that experience to grow them. Lots of other ways to teach them about the US hip hop culture in a more respectful and less cringy way. Just my own thoughts on it. 💜 (You like honesty, remember?!!!! Heh heh!!!!) Thank you for encouraging our opinions!!!

TSO 아포방포

That part was AMAZING!

I will cry over the first episode but I don't want you to watch it alone

Lorij Nay

The first episode is really hard to watch. I definitely wanted to protect the Tannies after seeing that but I agree it's important to their early days story. I will watch it again with you 💜

Purplehaze

I found this series interesting. There were some troubling (to me) areas but I think the guys learned a lot. They glossed over the fact (or maybe I forgot) that they were making an album at the same time... so after they filmed AHL, they went to the "studio" ... pretty grueling.

susan

The first few episodes for sure were hard to watch but after that the episodes get better and yes I agree I believe it had a great impact on them for sure. Looking forward to watching with you.

Teresa Nike

Fk I'm about to re-traumatized be prepared to go the fk it

Chriss The FloorStuffie

have only watch a little of it. As a parent I found it a little cringy.

Debra Gromacki

It's worth the watch for sure, to see the early days and their growth. Just keep the cringe factor in mind, some things are just fully uncomfortable to watch and I also hate how it starts when they get to LA (you'll see what I mean). Can't wait to watch along with you and the ARMY Bots 😀

Casey Hutchinson

Was hard to watch in begin but after is goes pretty well and I’m agree then each experience is what make them who they are now . Then is will be nice to watch it again with you John 😊

Sokha637

Lol I can’t wait to see them singing with the amazing vocal teacher at the piano!

John Reaves

Right?! I’ve heard it was rough but I feel like for anyone wanting to really know their journey this is necessary thing for me to watch. And maybe we can take from it what what the boys learned and how they grew. To be honest, this, and that interview they did where the other rappers were calling them sellouts are for me going to be hard to watch some something that I feel like made bts into the ones before us today. Pressure created diamonds 💜💜

John Reaves

I agree! They were so young, and being from a different culture I wonder if they had formed ideas about what influenced US hip hop culture before having a first hand exposure. I think that's why some of the show's episodes were the activities they did. But the best part IMHO is their interactions with the young women in the music video. And V's hairstyle (no spoiler).

Nature Girl

Oof. I can’t watch it again. I was so *angry* watching it the first time. Like mama bear ready to throw punches. Good luck!!
