From Adal:
Here’s what I was up to in June. Let me know if you have any recommendations for me!
TV:
The Bear season 4 - if you watch, make sure you look for Jemma’s cameo in episode 8 from seconds 00:18 to 00:20 as one of Sydney’s friends on a picnic!
Somebody Feed Phil season 8
Ironheart
MOVIE:
Ballerina: From the World of John Wick
OTHER:
Music for this month: Lots of Oasis, some Dire Straits, Interpol’s album Turn on the Bright Lights, really enjoyed the new Mars Volta that just came out. I’ve also been digging into the catalogue of my favorite band from this year’s Eurovison; Tautemeitas (from Latvia) and especially their album Skrejcels.
Jemma and I saw Guster live with Barenaked Ladies and Fastball so that was a real bath in the beautifully filthy mid-90’s waters of my youth.
Hello From the Magic Tavern is touring this year for our 10th anniversary! I’m pumped to dust off the ol’ skunk onesie and goof with some freaks. Info and tickets HERE
And here’s a few plugs for friends doing cool thangs:
My friend Jorin (who plays Metanoid the Homunculus on Magic Tavern) wrote a book! The book, LUNACY: A MAXIMALIST NIGHTMARE, launched last week. If you're so inclined, you can order the book. Any bookstore will be able to order it for you, or you can order it yourself, at either Bookshop.org. It's available in paperback or as an ebook
Former guest Josh Gondelman has a brand new special! Here’s the info from Josh himself: “Positive Reinforcement is out on Blonde Medicine's YouTube channel now! It was recorded live at the Bell House in Brooklyn in June 2024, and it was directed by Chris Werner (who I know from Last Week Tonight but now works at Saturday Night Live). There is no swearing in it, but there's a little bit of grownup material. It's okay to watch with your kids (if they are cool) or with your parents (if they are cool). Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAvNlgpdKKo”
Former Hey Riddle guest, Greg Hess, has a fantastic new game show podcast called Like Minds that you should check out! Erin and myself were on a recent episode you can find HERE.

From JPC:
Hey Riddiots -
Not much from me this month. I picked up Monster Train 2 and enjoyed it. It’s basically just an improved version of the first game.
As of writing this, we have officially kicked off our tour with Chicago and Twin Cities. We will be selling our signed tour posters at every live show but you can also pick up our tour shirt in our dashery store.
We are also doing limited-time show specific merch. You can check out our Chicago shirt, Twin Cities night 1 or Twin Cities Night 2! We got recordings for all three of these shows but we won't be dropping them in the feed as part of our normal release schedule. Some people like live shows and some people don't, so we want to give everyone new content on Fridays, but we will be releasing these live shows a little later in the year.
Due to selling out so fast, we have added a 2nd show in Nashville. It'll be the same night at 9pm, so you know we'll be getting wacky on a late Tuesday night.
Hope everyone is staying cool!

If y'all (mostly Erin and Adal) haven't listened to the cast recording for Death Becomes Her, you absolutely should! Truly so camp and delightful.

2025-07-09 02:51:09 +0000 UTCLove your newsletters! As a recommendation, mostly to Adal and Erin, but JPC might enjoy it. It's called Epic: The Musical and it's a fan made 9 part musical about Homer's The Odyssey. So it's got Greek Mythology, great music, fantastic voices and it's all I've been listening to for months. There aren't any official full videos to go along with it, but there are fan made animatics. (I created a playlist with animatics that have similar art styles and add to the story, via YouTube, if you guys are interested. I created the playlist specifically to introduce the musical to people if they need the visual aspects.)
