2025-03-03 20:35:05 +0000 UTCI know I'm probably a little late on this, but when you commented that RUBY walked so this show could run, I noticed you may not have been exposed to how this show actually came to be made. Not that RUBY isn't a fantastic piece of internet grown content, it absolutely is, but Vox Machina's path to becoming an animation is unique and unprecedented. It began when Critical Role began a kickstarter in an attempt to raise $750,000 over a few months so they could make one singular special animated episode as a gift to the fans. Well . . . Critical Role underestimated the power of their fanbase and the fans absolutely destroyed their stretch goals, raising over $3 million within a few hours. By the end of the month they had raised a whopping $11 million. This changed the trajectory of the project. Now there would be a whole season. The numbers got the attention of Amazon and they agreed to foot the rest of the bill for the whole first season as well as guaranteed them a second season up front, while giving Critical Role FULL creative control of the project.
