Ben Stiller didn't create or write Severance, he's an Executive Producer and a Director on most of the episodes. Dan Erickson created the show and is the Showrunner.

On a practical level, I agree with you. Wish I had this procedure in some of my jobs for the reason you mentioned and would be extremely tempting to go through with the procedure if the technology was available. However, the philosophical and moral stuff would probably hold me back from going through with it.

I hate the quote that Ms. Colbel says. "Whatever humans imagine they can usually create". So chilling.

I fully agree.
They talked about about the American obsession with work and getting ever for of productivity but, like you said, there's another side. If the "main" version of me went to clock in and suddenly I'm clocking it, then I don't really feel the mental/emotional drain of working.
It's like going to sleep and waking up refreshed to find out what needed to be done to get money was done while I was knocked out. Doesn't take time away from my regular life at all, just makes it so my days are 16 hrs long instead of 24

#SundayRundown Love Severance, happy you guys have started this show.
Regarding the choice to take the Severance procedure: there's another side to it that you guys didn't really cover that much during the discussion. If you *hate* living to work and you're only going into your 8-to-5 job to pay the bills because your work life feels like you're just putting yourself through 40+ hours of demeaning struggle and drudgery every week, then you might want to take this procedure. Thinking about some of the jobs I've worked just to make ends meet? I would have strongly considered taking a procedure like this that way my personal life would feel free of the obligations of the job. There's many jobs out there that you just won't feel happy doing, but it's your only choice to make the money you need to survive. If I was working nastier job and I could blink as if I woke up from a nap to go home and enjoy my personal life, that would have a lot of appeal.
Of course, there's huge philosophical and moral questions at play here which the show is going to explore which gives this idea more nuance. You guys even talked about the drawbacks to this. But I can absolutely see why someone (even myself) might freely choose to take this procedure if they're in the dark about what's going on behind the scenes.

#SundayRundown This is where not only Keyleth but also Marisha really find their stride. Not only did Ashley/pike have to go back to Blindspot but their 8th player, Orion who was a very powerful mage, had to be let go from the show. So on top of the loss of two players both the party healer and primary magic user were also gone.
That's part of what I love about critical role, there's really two shows happening, the adventures of the heroes of Vox Machina, the m9 and others but also a show about a group of talented friends who lives happen both on and around this show that changed their lives.

#SUNDAYRUNDOWN Delilah is a necromancer Silas is a neck romancer, very similar but big difference. That beatdown from Percy was devious, everyone else is fighting like trained fighters meanwhile Percy just stomps em out like heβs in the yard and they stole his cigarettes which makes sense given heβs mainly the gun guy his melee fighting would be raw rough and brutal. Suraj is right they were wraiths they resist most damage and are sensitive to sunlight, the black goo you saw was them taking necrotic damage from the wraiths special attack called life drain which lowers their maximum hit points until they take a long rest and if it hits zero they die instead of going unconscious. Wraiths can also create specters out of the bodies of people who died within the last minute and died violently. Also tell pat hell yeah you know those twins are banging donβt let the haters bring you down you do whatever you like, live Live!

Working in an office environment for well over a decade, going into the office on a daily basis doing the same routine felt a lot of times like monotonous hell. The writers and producers of "Severance" do a great job at intensifying that feeling of office hell that many workers experience. Fire and brimstone seem like a more preferable version of hell than being in a continual office loop.
Also, it's scary we're not too far off from the technology shown in "Severance". Earlier this year it was announced Neuralink successfully implanted its first wireless brain chip into a human. Pat's point about this technology being good in certain applications is valid particularly in government jobs that require a top-secret security clearance. However, the bad outweighs the good severance-like technology might bring to society. There are too many ways this technology can and will be abused.

I literally screamed "YES!" when I saw Severance in the email! Since the second season is fast approaching (January 17th), instead of my usual YT-edit viewings, I might just do the uncuts with you as a way to rewatch in preparation (to be fair it will be my... sixth? rewatch - I introduce a lot of people to Severance)

So suraj was correct; Ashley Johnson was filming NBC's "Blindspot" at that time. Blindspot shot in New York and this was still in the days when Critical Role was live every Thursday(during covid they switched to airing pre-recorded episodes)from California. So many times Ashley simply couldn't make it. Many other times she would actually Skype in and they'd have an I
iPad sitting in her spot at the table. This lasted until about halfway through campaign 2.
As far as Keyleth's Aramente, there are specific tasks she has to undertake and complete, reminiscent of Aang needing to master all four elements. Once she has, she'll have completed it and can...well it isn't really a spoiler but I also won't say. You'll pick it up through context clues.
During this fight in the campaign, when the creatures would touch you they would lower your maximum hit point value which is terrifying as a player.
The Sun definitely counts as nature because sunlight is a part of the cycle of natural life.
