2024-11-16 04:06:53 +0000 UTCAngel 4x18: This plotline reminds me of an Ursula K Leguin story, "The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas", where she describes the PERFECT society: everyone healthy, happy, living in beautiful ways. Then she stops and says, "Sounds unbelievable, right?" And reveals that there is a child in this world who spends their days locked in a room with no human contact. They are fed and kept healthy and comfortable, but never see the outdoors or any living being, and everyone in that society knows. And that somehow makes the ideal world more believable. And sometimes people walk away from there.
