We already seen Tosen's backstory in soul society arc (ep 62) showing how him and Komamura met and everything. Even Tosen's friends grave as well, but the backstory coming back this episode expounds more and explained how Tosen's friend died. Komamura is a wolf.

It makes sense that they would immediately latch on to this loving and stable family. But of course, right now they don’t know that Hughes was murdered. And when they do learn about it, it’s bound to be painful. Roy Mustang meanwhile, ties his desire for vengeance over Hughes’s death with his ambition to one day rule the country. He says “I will do these things because I have to do them”. Do you think these are goals that can coexist?

2024-07-25 07:24:11 +0000 UTC#SundayRundown Bleach About Tozen sword, Kubo confirmed in an interview that his sword and Shikai originaly belonged to his friend and he later awaken his own Bankai, which is really rare and not seing before. Also the husband was supposed to be from a high status and the Soul society protected him, if you remember before Ichigo, the soul reapers follow orders and higher ups without question. Another thing, Tozen's sword Suzumuchi translates to cricket and his ressurection Grillar Grillo is the spanish word for cricket also. And his comment on Komamura being ugly is a callback to Komamura hiding his face because everyone call him that, so comming from Tozen hurts even more for him. Also, for Aizen to use his power, he needs to say outloud his release command, so if you close your eyes or not look at it, you evade the hipnosis, it's not active all the time.

2024-07-25 03:52:33 +0000 UTC#SundayRundown Yes Aizen is definitely a worthy villain for Bleach, manipulation, psychology, charisma, demeanor, speeches etc this is why people love him and why he's regarded as one of the best villains in anime even till this day. He doesn't have a sad backstory like most instead Kubo writes him poetically using lots of nuance and having things open ended and up to interpretation this goes for a lot of the writing in Bleach. It's why we don't get full blown out backstories of people like say Naruto for example, even the stuff with Tosen is JUST hinted at rather than fully expanded on but there is more on that in the light novels about that which takes place after TYBW. I'm super excited on the next stretch of episodes

It just looks like a generic look in the anime, but in the manga it's a look of sorrow, as if to say "so this is how far you've fallen, Kaname?", it's great, the eyes say so much with no words needed, Kubo's facial expressions in the manga in general is one of his greatest strong points imo, he uses eyes so well. 2024-07-25 02:24:38 +0000 UTC#SUNDAYRUNDOWN BLEACH i know you guys aren't going to watch the filler arc i wouldn't either tho some of them are good with so pretty dope animation but i want to talk about the filler arc that you skip that has some canon stuff tied to it (most of this i took from a YT comment that explained this a lot better than i could) 1. The Unknown tales of the Zanpakutou is the one arc people kind of like. Not only does it have canon Zanpakutou Spirit designs made by Kubo, but also the actual conflict has a neat idea. Such an idea could be rebooted to be a good story 2. The main antagonist, Muramasa, is actually canon thanks to the light novel Can't Fear Your Own World. It seems like Kubo had him rewritten to be the ancestor Zanpakutou of Byakuya and the original Zanpakutou of the Kuchiki Family. In a lot of ways, he was given the same treatment as Broly when he got rebooted in Super Broly. 3. There is a recent theory that this arc is extremely loosely based on events in Byakuya's past. It is believed that when Byakuya told Ichigo he was the second person to ever see Senkei Senbon Zakura Kagyoshi, the first was rebooted version of Muramasa and (Maybe) rebooted Koga. It doesn't have anything to do with Hughes personally. This is an old set of phonetic spelling and in today's spelling he would have said Uniform, Sierra, Oscar. He essentially just said USO-800

Tbh all you need to know is that there was soul reaper politics involved unfortunately because soul society kinda sucks 😭 -Also Komamura is a wolf not a fox and the Tousen's Resurrection being a cricket makes since considering that's what his zanpakuto means in Japanese

That specific backstory with Tosen is explored in the Bleach: Can’t Fear Your Own World novels that take place after the series. The Thousand Year Blood War and the CFYOW novels reveal a lot of the darkness and sins that exist in the Soul Society, which explain Tosen’s anger and perspective much more. Many fans also agree that the evil man Tosen hates - who is featured prominently in the novels - is truly the most evil person in Bleach.

2024-07-24 16:20:46 +0000 UTCI'm so happy you guys caught on that Tosen’s transformation isn't meant to be cool it's supposed to show that he has become just as monstrous on the outside as he was on the inside and that even with sight he is more blind than ever. In my opinion, this is one of the best non-Ichigo-related fights in the original anime. Kubo did confirm that the Vizards can achieve Ressucion but one thing to keep in mind is that Shinji and his group are different from Ichigo and Tosen, and Tosen and Ichigo are also different from each other. Also, Tosen’s form is a cricket/bell bug.

2024-07-24 16:06:22 +0000 UTC#Bleach #SundayRundown So to answer the question from the Couch, the reason Tosen is angry at the Soul Society is largely because Central 46 didn't even listen to him when he went to complain about his Firend's Murderer not being charged. In modern terms what Tosen did would be like Walking into a court room/ Congress asking why someone wasn't charged with a crime which just like in real life would end with guards walking you out and that's exactly what happened to Tosen. This is the reason Tosen holds his gurdge and why he signed up to be a soul reaper as he feels they can do as they please seeing that his friend's murderer was able to walk free. As far as we know his friend's husband wasn't anyone of note nor do we know if/who knew anything or if anything was covered up so more or less Tosen is upset there was no justice for his friend and blames the system for it.
