2024-06-10 12:48:54 +0000 UTCSpirited Away may be my first exposure to anime movies, but Howl's Moving Castle holds a special core memory to me. The dub voices are really well done considering some of the main characters aren't pro VAs. Christian Bale as Howl is an amazingly-sexy voice. I wish he did more VA work. Josh was super young and his voice hasn't cracked yet when he voiced Markl. Billy was adorable as Calcifer, really giving that magical Mike Wazowski vibes. Blending Emily Mortimer and Jean Simmons' voices when Sophie is switching ages is genius. Dub Itachi aka Crispin Freeman didn't get many lines, but his voice is undeniable. Super relatable and endearing movie. Of all the Ghibli movies, it's this one that I wish spawned other works like games, novels, and TV shows.
