Blindwave did surveys and now have a recommendation feature on their site. Other channels do big posts before putting a poll together. The Normies are the only channel I've seen throw up a poll with a bunch of options that make no sense and are just like a mess of different levels of popularity, genres, and lengths. The only reason mention I mention view counts is because I've seen Suraj mention views during Mob Psycho and Oshi no Ko reactions and I've also seen him be worried they "missed the boat" on Spy Family and Frieren popularity as to why those weren't autoslotted. They literally just did a poll asking about "powerhouse" anime. Of course they care about these metrics. Its a big reason they've changed how they post Bleach and GL/Champloo now on youtube. I loved their Evangelion reactions and I'm desperate for them to get to something like Steins;Gate. There are countless older niche shows I would love for them to get the chance to watch. My biggest shill to them would be a romcom. Do people just need to spam them for manga reads now because apparently Frieren fans have been punished for telling them to hold off on reading it? The manga stuff literally falls back to the same thing. Look at all the non One Piece stuff, its basically all shounen jump manga still.

2024-04-15 23:05:06 +0000 UTCif you mean battle Shonen say battle Shonen because Shonen is just a genre or demographic and most popular anime fall under it. Mind you Frieren its a battle/slice of life Shonen and Solo Leveling is very much Shonen coded while being a manwha/webtoon

2024-04-15 22:50:47 +0000 UTCBut your arguing the audience is shilling Shounen and that they MAY “barely” enjoy them, sure some of the group may not always enjoy the shows but others do that’s what makes their reactions genuine. This is a show they chose to do themselves after having read the manga making it their choice. Now you’re unhappy about how future shows are being selected which I can somewhat understand yet, personally I think it’s great that they don’t chase the new hot show just for views and put up different shows but as you brought up they are following shows picked by their audience so they are actually following what their fans want, I understand not all fans but a majority, rather than chasing the current popular show. Your argument is infused with bias rather than looking at it from a view that they are choosing to do what both they and their audience wants e.g. “they would have enjoy it more than this” you can’t make that assumption as like everything art is subjective. Do I think they would enjoy Frieren? yes. Do I know they would enjoy it more than Kaiju No. 8? No. Do I think some of their poll choices are odd or not what I would want to watch, absolutely but at the same time I know they aren’t going to be like every other channel out there watching the same shows giving very similar reactions time and again. I just find it very telling that in the past few days all the comments I see from have been negative particularly towards other members of the fan base blaming them for everything as well as clearly the Normies for simply picking shows either they themselves are interested in as shown by them picking Kaiju No 8 after having first read it like a lot of fans did or by following the results of polls they put out, surely it would be worse if they ignored poll results all together and just chased the newest shows. You not understanding their logic doesn’t mean they are wrong for what they are doing or that anyones choices in shows needs “reevaluating”

Apothecary and Dungeon are Seinen sure but it seems like its not the Shonen genre you are arguing against its Shonen you subjectively dont think are that good. You can bring up them being burnt out from bleach mind you that series is a decade old, animation dated, and was a weekly series so it really isnt Shonen they have a issue with its old Shonen

Our polls have been all over the place, which is why we posted Pre-Poll Inquisition poll to get all the comments before the poll is posted. Kaiju No. 8 wasn't part of the poll but other shows have been based on the polls and we have to honor the winner of those polls

2024-04-15 22:25:49 +0000 UTCI'm not hating on them in anyway. I'm hating on the audience that keeps shilling mediocre shounen to them that they are likely going to continue to barely enjoy. Just look at the shows listed in their "modern anime" section yesterday. I would love to be able to watch more of their reactions because I love their content, but the only thing on the schedule I care about is Succession and Fallout right now. What they do with anime just doesn't make sense and its frustrating. They are basically the only channel out there still not doing Frieren. Why was it left off the poll Champloo won? It was the first show I've ever seen win for BlindWave while it was still airing. Why did Spy Family disappear from polls when it was the best performing actual anime in the poll Castlevania won? Why are they putting Fruits Basket on a poll versus Dragon Ball? Why are there non-anime on anime polls? They said they were burned out on long shounens by the end of Naruto then decided to drop a Bleach vs One Piece poll on us. Solo Leveling as much I don't enjoy it would crush this show in views. This group would easily love Apothecary Diaries or Dungeon Meshi way more than this. Dungeon Meshi is one of the most highly regarded fantasy mangas out there and its Trigger's first ever adaptation (a studio the Normies are actually familiar with and seem to love). People told them not to read Frieren because they want them to react to it, if they had read it they would easily have enjoyed it more than this but now those fans are being punished for suggesting that?

A quick glance at MAL shows it as the 6th most popular show this season. Whoever is in yalls ear about anime needs a serious reevaluation.
