We have finally started reacting to Studio Ghibli movies! We are using this poll to select which movies we should watch. After this, we will watch Princess Mononoke, Howls' Moving Castle and Grave of the Fireflies. After we are done with this list then we may re-post new poll to watch other Ghibli movies :)

2024-02-13 14:14:45 +0000 UTCIf you’re planning to watch Grave of the Fireflies, I highly recommend watching it subbed. I’m a fan of most of the Ghibli dubs (and I think you should definitely watch all the other poll winners dubbed, they’re good quality), but NOT this one. It wasn’t done by Disney, and the quality is significantly lower. This applies whether you’re watching the 90s dub or the newer one. It’s not like, terrible, but it’s fairly awkward and can ruin the mood of many scenes.

2024-02-12 12:20:06 +0000 UTCThe sub/dub nonsense is silly in a genre of entertainment that specifically needs the viewer to pay attention to detail on the art and animation shown on screen. Nobody watches animated stuff for the voice acting. People watch animated and visual entertainment because it's a visual medium; not an auditory one. Radio and podcasts exist if one cares how someone sounds delivering entertainment.

2024-02-10 19:36:05 +0000 UTCLoved the reaction! This was my first Ghibli movie when I was around Chihiro’s age. Hooked me right in. Kiki was my second and I’ve never looked back. Ghibli movies are the inspiration for so much animation in Japan and now here in the west! And I hate to leave a sub vs dub comment here, but since you’re doing Grave of the Fireflies. It’s such a specifically Japanese story based off someone’s real life. So I suggest watching it in sub just for a more “realistic” experience. If that makes sense. I love all the other Ghibli movies in dub, but Grave is just different. In the end, it’s up to ya’ll though!
