Anyone confused by the "Spearchucker" slur should seriously think about Black Panther and Wakanda for 2 seconds.... What do they fight with? 🤣 I used to have a (black) friend (I am also black) that LOVED to fuck with Jamaicans and Africans with heavy accents. He LITERALLY would fuck with these customers by saying stupid shit like "And Would you like a spear, my bruddah?" At the end of the transaction (We worked at a gas station) 🤣 🤣 🤣. I think the whole self-hating jew thing applies more heavily to self-hating black people. Not ALL black people agree with black people issues. MOST of us who grew up around white people understand that our culture is flawed, especially for blaming others in the first place. The N word is a conundrum, tho, as we all use it as a sign of identity (or as a way of identifying with each other) and it holds ZERO meaning unless you assume the other person is purposely disrespecting you. If my mom or dad calls me a "Nigga" then it's understood that they are showing disapproval of me and my actions. Same for a girlfriend or another loved one. The only time this DOESN'T apply is when your dealing with a person who let's the word fly at will. Some people use the N-word like most people use the word "The". In those instances, you understand that their vocabulary is limited, and they use the word SO much that it loses all meaning. It's basically a part of their accent at that point. Niggas say nigga like Early s1 Naruto said "Dattebayo". It was random, and spur of the moment. Anyways, I'm drunk of tequila and this post has gone on a LOT longer than it was meant to be... PLEASE react to Death Parade 🙏. The Chooms would be the BEST squad (Did you know, this quad team started with Andor, of all things??? LOVE Andor BTW) but DP is the shortest, Deepest anime would ever watch, as it is purely an introspective review of the human physique, at the end of "line", so to speak. Either way, SUPER drunk, again, and I hope you guys enjoy the rest of this season. S3 is probably my favorite, despite the banned episodes 😆

Fun thing I learned from Family guy.... There was a black guy/soldier? In the TV show MASH, and his name was Spearchucker (Jones? Perhaps?) AND apparently Tom sawyer or another similar story referred to a guy as "N-word Jim" 🤣

Other cultures use slurs to describe themselves. I grew up with plenty of south Asians who referred to themselves as the P word. I’m black British, so we don’t really say the N word over here- however I’m not going to sit on a pedestal and condemn those that do. Let people do what they want (within reason). The show we’re literally watching uses it constantly, whether they’re making a point or not. I’ll never look down on a fellow poc for reclaiming a slur,

This is one of my favorite Boondocks episodes with what it has to say. Not just the commentary on media's exploitation of outrage but specifically how loaded and power behind the "N-word."
This episode and an event in my time working around the world really placed a perspective on how heavy that word is and my own personal stance that nobody should be allowed to say it.
During my time working my commission on the Cape Route.
I remember one night, drinking, when the crew were talking about their local slurs and when it came to the N-word. Everyone was surprised the African/continental crew's denial of the word saying along the lines of "It's slur isn't it? Why would we say it?"
They gave an eloquent explanation on how much power it has recieved over the years and the hypocrisy in who is and isn't allowed to use that word. Similar to Huey's stance on the episode. They mentioned that the word is being glorified yet at the same time demonized both making it into powerful word leading further into division and racism.
One of the senior African staffers at the time mentioned that in their time working, the N-word is so unique compared to other racial slurs because no other crew member calls refer to themselves in their own native slurs. In context, we'd all jokingly call each other names from different languages barring actual slurs when working just to have fun being a subject of that myself as an asian.
Which is why he and the african crew found it weird in their observations when sometimes black crew members would refer themselves or others like that when no one else is doing it with their own slurs.

After working around the globe with many different people, Afro-american use of the Nword is filled with hypocrisy and just strange.
It's strange how much it propagates in the name of "reclamation" when that word is just riddled with history of worst acts of humanity.
No other nationality or race refer themselves a slur since that's just gross.

I think the scene where Roman comes to "rescue" Kendall from the meth-party is where the writers are saying: "No, this isnt BrBa... No-one is gonna get literally stabbed by these methheads. Its not that kind of show"

I wish Suraj had just let the whole clip of the teacher play so they could’ve seen how 100% spot on the recreation was in the episode. Sometimes bro gets way too into “know it all” mode…and is often dead wrong lol

i agree with that teacher. its the same question i ask: if its so offensive why use it? and no one can give me a reasonable answer so i just go "thats for you not for me. lets not interact if you need to use that word" cause "its a black thing" is bogus and "its a cultural" thing is also bogus since im from an all black town and all black family and i only heard ONE person in my family use that word ONCE and cant recall ever hearing anyone say it at school. definitely none of my friends said it. but im not from the city so maybe its a city thing. we would say "boy please" "negro please" but never the nword. its gross and racist and just attached to too much pain FOR ME to ever engage in/with. i personally cant see the "comedy" or "friendlness" in the usage of the word. its just pure evil to me

Connor's always standing in the shadows of everyone else and ignored by them which makes his obsession with Napoleon kind of interesting to me. He latched onto a major historical figure who wasn't from the elite ruling class and came to power through military service. Though Napoleon's family was minor nobility, they would have been mostly ignored and used as pawns for the top elite ruling class. Maybe Connor admires Napoleon because, despite his background, the World couldn't ignore him.

Yeah despite him being a prick I admire that he just said “no” to any and all games from his dad. Man is sick of this shit and he’s managed to be happier than any of the other kids by not chasing dads love
Think Roman does something similar, he often isn’t around his dad just 1 on 1. Seems to feel safer with another sibling in the room taking the heat (and make fun of)
Roman was definitely scared when Shiv was leaving therapy, he’s a disturbed manchild who needs help with his disgusting abusive dad

Connor shows how he’s used to being ignored by his dad and by everyone in a way. That’s probably why he tries so desperately to be on everyone’s side and play the middleman. So that there’s always at least one person somewhere that wants him.

Feel like this is the encapsulation of the 1%, a bunch abused and clueless children (most born into privilege) who are rewarded for exploiting people beneath them
They see no value in others or themselves so might as well make as much money as possible to stroke their egos
Capitalism is a launching ground for sociopaths, makes total sense why these giant families with reputation are so fucked up

For the Office, I think the y should’ve just laid off some people. The freed up paychecks could probably give everyone their full raise back. Lay off Ryan, Kevin, and Creed. Also, maybe unpopular opinion but I never found Creed’s character that entertaining. Maybe cause I’ve never had good experiences with homeless people and Creed’s humor is supposed to be derived from him being homeless and forlorn.

Love the therapy scene, all the kids break my heart in different ways smfh
I totally see why Shiv would want someone safe like Tom after all the horrible domineering shit she had to deal with from her dad
She can’t feel safe in a relationship with men who she can’t control. Her actress and the lead writer said that prior to the show she was spiraling from heartbreak before meeting Tom
Even Connor is a sad little doofus who only knows how to engage in transactional relationships. Bro doesn’t understand what love is
None of these kids have healthy boundaries and they don’t understand how to have relationships or friendships

To clear this up about Shiv. She has never worked in the company and is not a board member, so she had no way to participate in the vote of no confidence. Although as a Roy child she does have shares in the company, just no corporate experience.

The Battle of Austerlitz is one of Napoleon's most decisive military victories and was game changing for the European power dynamic. As a result of Napoleon's victory, the Confederation of the Rhine was formed and ended the Holy Roman Empire which lasted for around 1000 years.
The Roy family is fractured and their powerful empire is crumbling around them.

This is the one time pat’s misreading is understandable lol. Those back scratches are supposed to be deep scars from beatings from his uncle but realistically they look at bit too red and not faded enough? Idk if you google deep scaring from stuff like whipping and such it doesn’t really look like that but I guess they wanted it to pop more on screen. I don’t think most people would assume sex scratches given the subtext from the earlier scene though.
And for the office, michael pocketed the money before because they office couldn’t decide between a copier and chairs and only after david wallace told him in lieu of making a tough decision, which michael isn’t good at, he can take a bonus. Idk why that’s being brought up here and has nothing to do with their current predicament. But otherwise yes, you probably could go off past evaluations but they needed an actual plot point for the show and it can’t function too mundanely.

Scratches on Logan's back aren't new, or from Marsha. The show doesn't do flashbacks so you have to pay attention to bits of dialogue. Kendall referenced evil Uncle Noah, when Logan was saying what he would do if he had been as disrespectful as Kendall was being.
