After some soul searching I have decided it's not a spoiler to say Charles Gunn will come into his own. So much so that I honestly forget this is what his portrayal was like at first. I love Gunn and I can't imagine saying that if they maintained long term this cringey attempt at street cred. I dunno, maybe it was a lazy attempt to give him an initial character arc. The Gunn I know is a much more complete character. I have cheered for Gunn, I have laughed with Gunn, I have cried for Gunn.

ah okay ill take your word for it that they recognized him. im aware that Gunn was in the show before this episode/season. what i meant is i honestly dont remember them ACTUALLY recognizing him i just rememeber surj and them saying a few different times who is gunn etc he looks familiar etc. so when this episode started off with surj being like "And starring Gunn as Gunn " it made me think he/they still didnt know/recognize him

#SundayRundown - Love the Angel reactions, really happy you guys are enjoying the show. Fun Fact: This is the last time the character David Nabbit will appears in the show. He was originally going to be in more episodes, but the actor David Hermam's schedule was too busy and didn't allow him. Also to answer your question as someone born and raised in LA and who started high school in 00's i can say the depiction of LA is a caricature but isn't that far off from reality it just depends on what part of LA you're in lol some of the dialog isn't that far off of as i've been asked more than once if i can Hot Wire a car by people who grew up around me one of which being my own mother but i also grew up 3 blocks from a chop shop however I didn't deal with a lot of gang activity while my cousins did and they lived 10min away.

I think Riley's statement about Buffy Is half true, she does love him but maybe not as much or as deeply as she loved angel or as much as Riley loves her. There was a comment she made in S4 after the time reversal angel crossover, about how she feels as though true love requires more pain and fighting. So much of Buffy's life is crazy and intense and I think a part of her wants her relationship to be the same and with Riley it's more calm and normal ish.

by the way, it was never explained how anya survived with seemingly no social security card, birth certificate, family, history, money or job so your head canon is as good a guess as any i guess. DEMON MOOOOOOOOOOOONEY! i just accept that anya is just this pixie of a character that pops in and out when needed so no need to logic her existence lol.

I see what you're saying Cosmotron... but I think, for most people, if you tell them you love them and they never say it directly back to you, or only say it about you when you're being included in a big group of people, it just doesn't feel the same. From Buffy's perspective, maybe she's omitting the direct "i love you" purposely, or maybe not. Either way, she's doing nothing wrong. She owes nothing to anybody. But from Riley's perspective, he's still concerned... so I feel for him. I think most people would question why she still hasn't committed to the direct line in his position.

#SundayRundown So I really love this episode and to me, this is one of the most major turning points of the entire show. The destruction of the cave and Mount Justice represents the *loss of innocence* and the end of the first era of Young Justice. Season 2 is infinitely more mature than season 1, and this season, this episode, that moment, Kaldur destroying the cave, their home, and then Dick and Wally's conversation about it... is one of the best scenes in the entire show, and where the show shifts. This show is not really a kids cartoon anymore (and it was always a mature cartoon at that), this is where the show changes, and embraces it's more mature side.

I’m not gonna say she hasn’t to some degree held him a bit away from herself. But there’s more to it than that. In s4 it was made a point that she was focusing too much on Riley at the expense of other people in her life. We see this season that she is trying to balance that, going on group dates and the like. Furthermore, also in s4, Buffy did in fact make it clear that she loves Riley. When Faith had woken up and was causing trouble, she told Riley that she wanted to keep him safe and away from Faith specifically because “she goes after the people I love.” And she said this while cradling Riley’s face in her hands. It’s a more casual way to say it, but that doesn’t make it less true. Riley didn’t say it back to her in that moment, but later when Faith was possessing her body. Since then we have seen him say it to her in more casual ways “that’s why I love you” and etc. From *Buffy’s perspective* they have both said it to each other in casual ways, and he didn’t respond when she first said it in that casual way either.

#SundayRundown - I think it’s interesting & cool how after Nightwing last season said that he ‘didn’t wanna be the Batman anymore’, he’s now found himself doing or being put in situations that Batman has been in. Having to lie, be deceiving and misleading people close to him to achieve the higher goal of this covert mission in finding out about the enemy, their partner and defeating them. That’s arguably right out the Bruce Wayne/Batman playbook. Wally’s concerns are also valid because, from his perspective, they’re losing more than they are getting back with this operation.

As with the scene in the car between Riley and Buffy, whenever Riley tells Buffy he loves her, she has never said it back to him. She's never fully let him in and has always held some stuff back from him. She cares for him, but she's not capable or willing to fully commit and love him as much as he loves her. Very sad.
